Swimming and Fried Chicken

Yesterday (Wednesday) was our last day with Uncle Cory and Aunt Liz. We waited all day for our super fast internet man to come and he did as we were heading down to the Apex. We met them in the parking lot and then went in for some serious fun.

My kids LOVE the water. Lucas isn't as *ahem* careless as his sister but he is really good about trying to swim and be careful while doing it. Scarlett really liked being in the water and liked that she could kick the bottom of the zero entry pool while she was in her floatie. It was so cute to see her go around and around. Bridget on the other hand was taking Cory around and around the pool, making him take her everywhere. She went down the slide feet first but some how ended up head first on the way out! Hahaha. The kids loved playing in the different sections of the pool.

After swimming we went up to Majestic View Park for a BYOC dinner with the Witte's. Everyone brought their own fried chicken and ate and played at the park, then while the Pineapple Upside Down Dutch Oven cake was cooling off the men and Liz with Bridget played Frisbee and football.

Then it was time for good byes where Lucas my smart son says to Cory "Are you going to the airport?" His response was "No, we drove our car here" Lucas sat there processing, processing and then says "Hey why doesn't my Grandpa drive here, the airport is too far away. I'm gunna talk to him 'bout this!" It was so funny I just had to laugh.

This morning Lucas asked what we were going to do with Liz and Cory, and I had to tell him they went back home. He ran and got his backpack and put 4 pairs of underwear one of Bridget's shoes and a pair of socks, her jammies and a small firetruck, 2 diapers and said "Mom I packed up the kids stuff lets go to Liz and Cory's house now." I told him we werent going to Arizona and he then took out the diapers and her shoe and said "Okay I am ready to go to Grandpa's." He is so silly sometimes!

For the 3rd Time

The ZOO! We only go on the free day in October and then again in the winter for Zoo Lights, but this is our 3rd timee to the Zoo this year and we had a great time! Liz and Cory thought it would be fun since we went with them last year and it was hot, but pretty fun. They said it was hotter here than it was in AZ but I can't believe that. I just can't.

I learned this trip that if you have a King Soopers card you get a dollar off admission per person. Who knew?

One thing I love about the Zoo is that every time we go, something there stands out to make the trip different. Whether its the people or my children's behavior, or the weather, or even a particular animal that is peeing right in front of you (Mr. Zebra that is rude!) no matter what it is, it sure makes going to the Zoo an adventure!

I went in to take a picture and the old lady running the carousel let me and Scar hitch a free ride. It was great, and the grandma I sat next too told me that my children were so well mannered and handsome. I did a double take...my kids? Hahaha. Just Kidding.
They did pretty well since we went right in the middle of their nap time! :)
It was a fun TUESDAY. When the kids said bye to Liz and Cory-Lucas was so sad. I assured him we had one more day with them.

Catch Up of Fun

Saturday after our Camping Trip, Liz and Cory arrived from Phoenix, AZ. They came to visit the family but really wantd to see the kids so we met up at the Promenade for some water fun. The kids were so excited to see Liz and Cory they knew exactly who they were and greeted them with big open arms! Then they saw the sprinklers and ran over to them...

They told Lucas to lay out in the sun to warm up, and this is what he did.

Then Bridget had to join in on the sun worshiping...she is still practicing her Americas Next Top Model poses-Tyra would be proud. :)
And then little Scarley playing with Uncle Cory...it was so cute! :)
What a fun evening.

Ward Campout

First I need to say that not having the Internet and a phone for a week totally SUCKS! Okay. I am "borrowing the Internet from my neighbor so I cad n post about our amazing ward camp out.

We had a great turn out this year! Our ward hasn't had a camp out in 5 years and being the Witte I now am thinks that this needed to change, so being on the Activities committee I managed to get it on the list. Little did I know that they would release Courtney a month before the camp out and call me a new committee the Sunday before the camp out so I was on my own!

There were 26 families and 122 people. The night was cool and not too bad, we were able to eat dinner under the lit pavilion and eat S'mores and Dough Boys and jiffy pop by the fire pit and after a closing prayer we were hit by an intense rain. Everyone ran to their tents to stay dry through the night to wake up to puddles and craziness through the morning (1 a.m.) It seemed as though everyone was awake at this hour. All of the adults were up making sure my husband was okay (he had an attack) and I have to say I was touched by the love and support the ward showed to me and my family. Any way...the rain left and we had a chipper start to the morning where people greeted each other dirty and wet by the fire pit. We had 10 dutch ovens full of Roscoe's Breakfast Casserole which we turned into breakfast burritos...which my in laws handled. I am so glad they came and cooked for the ward.

There was plenty to go around. The funny thing about breakfast was that it took longer than expected but luckily for us the sun came out and dried up most of the tents so packing them up was a breeze. After breakfast everyone mingled and talked for a while and we split up into games.

It was a great activity and it was so great that everyone pitched in and helped make it so memorable.

This is Lucas hanging out with the CTR-6 kids. He told me he could be with the big boys because he wore underwear and could pee in the nature all by himself.

This was Lucas's first time roasting and eating one that he made all by himself.
Bridget swallowed a few marshmallows whole before roasting the one on her stick. The kids LOVED this part of camping, and that all of the kids were together shoving face!
The kids slept hard and through the night even through all of the commotion, and Scarlett was the perfect baby the whole time, she'd smile and coo at everyone it made me so proud!

We had fun, I hope everyone did too!
