Born on this Day

Elijah Grant Witte, the newest member of the family was born this morning around 5 am. He was 7lbs 2oz and 20 .75 inches long. He is the smallest so far, but still pretty darn cute. It is hard to tell now what he will be like, but there is no mistaking that he is Ryan's son! Elijah looks just like his Daddy! Speaking of looks, Gary and Cindy have some good looking grandchildren! And they all sport the WITTE CHIN!!!!

I mean seriously even Doug and Brieanne's kids have the Witte chin! What is the Witte chin? It is a cleft/dimple/hole (as Lucas calls it) They get it from Grandpa Witte. It is so cute. While Noah and Lucas's has sort of faded away Bridget's is pretty deep, and Elijah's looks like Noah's did when he was a wee one.

It is so nice to have cousins who look alike! I don't look like any of my cousins, shoot I hardly get to see my cousins! I have seen more of Nathan's cousins than that of my own! Well, that isn't entirely fair, because I went to school with Rene and hung out at her house with her brothers Doug and Dave and her sister Erin and Tasha I think was a baby. I am sure there are more, but we are talking about the little Wittes, and they are so cute!

Cooking

You know, I really like to cook. Sometimes I get frustrated because my Dad is an awesome cook, and my Grandma Horn is even better than him and I feel like I don't measure up. I try some recipies that they give me and although they are good, they just don't taste the same. "You know, these mashed potatoes are good, but they are not like my Dad's." These sorts of phrases are said in my house all of the time. My Dad once told me that I am a great baker. I used to think What! all I can make is cookies? But there is a road that my father hasn't traveled in the kitchen and that is casseroles! Growing up I NEVER had a casserole. Shocking I know! Nathan laughs and says its because we ate better food than just casseroles, which is partly true. I never had anything growing up that had cream of mushroom soup in it, or anything topped with cheese. Haha. But there is a secret world of casseroles that I didn't even know existed. And so I am on a mission, I am going to perfect 30 casserole recipes and when I see my Dad in June, I am going to make him one! Oh, and since everyone I know is on this cupcake CRAZE , I am going to continue baking my cookies, because no dessert goes better with a tall glass of milk than a cookie, so there!

I am sure most of you know what a casserole is but here is the definition:
Casserole
–noun
1. a baking dish of glass, pottery, etc., usually with a cover.
2. any food, usually a mixture, cooked in such a dish.
3. a small dish with a handle, used in chemical laboratories.

4. to bake or cook (food) in a casserole.

It was 71 today. After church Lucas asked to be naked, so we took off his clothes and Bridget's clothes and let them chill in their diapers. I made Black and Whites, not my Dad's Black and Whites but Chocolate Cookies with White and Brown Chips. The kids laughed, danced and had a great day.

No Way, Really?

Bridget is really 4 months old? Get out! She is getting so big! We went to the park today and she could sit in the swing all by herself! SHE LOVED IT! Here are some pics I thought you all would like!

My Mid Morning Ho Hum

So this is what 10am usually looks like...

After many looooooooooong days of being on house arrest (ahem, Nathan) I cleaned the house, read a few books, made some good meals, and read my camera manual. Shocking since I have had it since November! I learned how to take some awesome manual shots so here they are...
she is so photogenic! I hate it! I can't help myself, I take at least 20 pictures of just her everyday! and he, he is so used to it, he says cheese everytime I take the camera out of the bag! I finally got one where he wasn't looking! this is lucas in his true form...mischevious!

Blogger Strike?

I have received 26 emails about my blog and most of them ask where I have been. Dude people its only been 5 days!

Our house has been full of projects, jammy days and an emergency trip to the ER. Thats right, I had to go in on Sunday for some unexpected scary thing, that is now over. Whew!

Me...well I have been on vicadin and other meds, so to me this week has been a blurr...poor Nathan! So as far as my "strike..." it's over and I am back...the most exciting thing in our lives right now is the anticipation of Elijah's arrival! (elijah is ryan and veronica's unborn)
