The End of Halloween

Lucas picked Frankenstein for 2 reasons. One, he loves the Ready, Freddy! series. He can read a lot of it himself.  In the series one of the characters is Frankenstein. Two, somewhere he connected the green skin to the Hulk and so Lucas believes that Frankenstein is the Hulk's dad.
We had to convince Bridget to be a Witch, she wanted to be so many other things, but this fit with the theme.
She saw this one and needed it! A Candy Corn Witch. Haha.

Scarlett is wearing Lucas's handmedown spider costume.
She loved it! Even though she couldn't say what she was.
Gary Pider!
Juliet was a Black Cat - to fit the theme.
She was uninterested in taking pics.

Bridget had her party today at school. She loved that.
The kids went through the neighborhood. Our neighbors are truly awesome.
Each kid got something special from Pat and Chris (the neighbors next door)
Something special from Lauren and Jesse (across the street) and of course Fireman Brian and Tiffany his very pregnant wife invited the kids in for something extra special. Wow, that sounded a little creepy but it wasn't.

I was a skeleton and Nathan was a mummy.
The pictures didn't come out. : (

We didn't get any pics of the night because we were busy with our awesome neighbors, oh well. : P

Adventures in Bedrest, week 3 and 4 and 5

These were from a while ago.
As I was walking too much yesterday and totally paying for it today...I have literally been in bed all day recuperating from the Halloween activity.

Nathan tries to do hair. At least it's out of her face.
This was taken on a bad day (for me), so he was trying to get everything done and just threw it up there.

Juliet was poopy. Bridget said she was going to take care of Juliet. Nathan came down and saw this...

Juliet was laughing and laughing and had ripped off her diaper and was just sitting there. Bridget had taken off the stinky diaper and wiped her with 400 wipes and attempted to put her diaper back on.
Juliet knew where the flaws were and just RIPPED it right off.

I am really weird about where things go in my kitchen. I really like everything to have a place so my counters, windowsill, and sink are clutter free.  This is one of those times where I went upstairs and just shrugged my shoulders and asked Nathan to stop what he was doing and start working on the kitchen.

He made me laugh because like a typical man he said "I swear I JUST did the dishes last night."
Uh, yeah. 6 people x 3 meals adds up. This is the one room that has to be kept up on.

Luckily it was cleaned up in a flash, and everything was back to normal. Whew.

Since that day - the kitchen has never looked like that again. Haha.

Here is Scarlett with another fabulous 'do - except this one she did herself.

Bridget gets quiet time in the Living Room and if she reads 10 books for 20 minutes she gets 5 treats.
This has helped keep the peace when I can't leave the Family Room.

Lucas has been AWESOME.
He helps and keeps everyone happy and he insisted on making lunch one day...

He calls this rectangle lunch!
We ran out of bread so instead of calling someone to bring us some - we did this instead.

Then Nathan made white bread even though he couldn't eat it!

It was so good and even though I shouldn't have it either - I totally ate it and LOOOOVED it!

The kids and their annual Thursday movie night:

I am so glad we are keeping busy and trying to take it easy.
Only a few more weeks of  torture  bed rest and then it will be over --- hopefully.

I am grateful for the lessons I am learning...like asking for help, taking each day at a time, how to work the remotes without Nathan. Haha.

I feel blessed to have true friends in my life and all that entails.

I feel so lucky that I am able to be pregnant one more time and that it hasn't been too bad.

I also am grateful to be married to someone who is trying to keep me happy and do every little thing I as without complaint. I know I can be crazy and my schedule is difficult for some and I like things a certain way but he smiles and keeps doing it because he loves me. :) Thanks babe!

Halloween Activity

I am kinda rude and always take over the ward's Halloween Party/Chili Cook Off.

When I am not in charge I hate it. I never have a good time.
When I am in charge I am completely stressed and freaked out and over do it, but I am happy at the end of the night.

Go figure.

This year I delegated almost everything out.

We had 231 people there. It was a great turn out.

Things ran as smoothly as they could for that amount of people.

Because I was "taking it easy" I hardly got any pictures.
Here are some of what went down though.

There were some awesome costumes and great people to talk to .

We had carnival games on one side, trick or treating on the other and everyone left with candy in their bags and smiles on their faces. So even though I couldn't control or make things run smoother, they still worked out alright.  Couldn't ask for much more. :)

Trick or Trunk

Lucas's school has a HUGE Halloween activity every year.  It was a bit chilly so Bridget wore her Kitty Costume from last year.  Nathan took the kids and I stayed home with JuJu Bean!
 Scarlett was hilarious apparently...
The kids had their tickets and were ready to go in...
This line wrapped around the school all the way to the gate of my neighborhood.
Some people really went all out on their trunks. Nathan took a lot of pictures but he is still figuring out the new camera so I didn't put the blurry pics in. You are welcome for that.

The kids had a great time with their dad, and got to see their friends in costume.
Bridget told me what she wanted to be next year...there were 6 different things.

Lucas was glad to do a school thing, I was glad they got to go out.

Beware...there are at LEAST 3 more Halloween posts. Ward, Work and The Actual Night.  Oh man.

First Snow of the Season

It was a mighty storm. The snow was so wet and heavy.

I asked Nathan to trim the tree this weekend and he didn't get to it and well - scroll down.

7am. Snowing.

Our neighborhood lost power from 11pm to 4am.
It was our tree in the back's fault.  It hit the sub box.

This is a tree in the back that used to be FULL of branches and leaves...now it looks like a palm tree.

This is my big beautiful tree. Its the biggest on the whole street and this is what we saw before Lucas went to school.  Just wait - it gets worse!

Bridget walked with Nathan to pick up Lucas from Kindergarten.  We live so close, why not.

Here is the school at 11am

During this time it was still snowing and we lost power again.

That is another broken branch behind them.

Since we had no power I let them out to have some fun!

Still snowing!

This is about 1pm. The snow had sorta stopped and neighbors were coming over asking if they could help with the branches.

You would hear a crack and then a BOOM.

Snow flying everywhere and you knew that another branch had fallen!

Scarlett came to investigate. She dressed herself.
You can see the snow is already starting to melt. I love Colorado just for that reason!

These branches almost hit the kids so Nathan went out and started to work on the clean up, with a chainsaw and 2 neighbors.

Above is everything that fell.

Nathan took a picture to demonstrate the size of the branches!

It was pretty bad.

Fun for the kids to play in, not fun to clean up.
Its already melting down and luckily the trashman comes today!

I suspect we will be in short sleeves by Saturday! :)

Post 5 - Scary-ish Day

*note* this happened in the past - as of the date of this post things have been okay.
*note* this post is also graphic.

After many weeks on strict bed rest, monitoring what I was doing and not going to do, accepting help from those willing to give it, hiring a maid every other week to help around the house (mostly bathrooms and kitchen) and visiting my OB and other various Doc's over the weeks I decided I could get up and grab the baby.

Nathan has been amazing. He moved the bed to the main living room so we had a place to be, he has slept with me almost every night so I could sleep in peace and so he could be near by if I needed anything. He rearranged his work schedule and has had to pick up the slack in the laundry, and dinner department and pre-made everything for the kids so I literally, could stay in bed.  This morning Juliet got up at 4:30 with a poopy mess. So I slowly ventured upstairs and picked her up, changed her diaper and attempted to take her downstairs.  I was so careful, so slow and felt pretty good.  I laid down after all that and just watched her be cute.

I got up to go to the bathroom and started to bleed. Not a lot but enough to call Veronica to see what to do...she is my go to PP person.  She said it didn't seem like a big deal but call the OB just to be sure.  The OB tells us to go to the ER. In fear of what happened a few weeks ago. We pack up the kids, I sit on a towel and hope for the best.

As we pull into Platte Valley they tell me to go to University Hospital. They are the best for preemie care.  At that point I am scared.  We drive to University but it was closed. Closed? Ooops, we went to the old one.  They just built a brand new facility next to the best Children's in CO and so we head over there.  I feel crampy/contractiony and say a little prayer.

Walk in and they are waiting for me in security wheel me straight up to L&D and are rushing and panicked.  I told them I wasn't bleeding that much but they didn't listen. Monitors, Blood Tests, etc.

The resident OB comes in tells me that I look okay but they need to stick a camera up there and of course I agree. Let's figure out what's happening.  They take a look and figure the blood/tear is old.  Which is common for Previa. I am not dilated or anything.

Then the OB comes in. He is a specialist with Extreme High Risk Patients. Which I am.  He gives me the brass tacks on Previa. He tells me no longer to see my OB but to call him directly. He will now be trouble shooting with me before I do anything from here on out. He told me he would most likely deliver me since the baby will probably be in the NICU. He tells me if my baby has to be in the NICU I want it to be at University.  We talk about what is going to happen in the next few weeks and assures me he has seen worse.

I get to check out the NICU.  I was so impressed and a little teary-eyed.  He tells me not to worry and that I will hopefully make it to 30 weeks. If not - at least I will be in the right place. 30 weeks is a long ways away but knowing what could happen eases my mind quite a bit.

The goal of course is 34-36 weeks but I am a ticking time bomb. Essentially.

Which means, more "bed rest," more being humble enough to accept help, and taking it easy.  More bedside book reading and tv watching unfortunately. Lots of coloring and Strawberry Shortcake on the floor. Worst of all, a pretty boring mommy. :(  But whatever it takes to keep this baby inside and luckily my kiddos get that.

I am so grateful that I get to take part in one more little person's journey. I feel so loved for the help I have received and the support we have gotten.  All of this comes at such a trying time with Nathan's new position and school schedule. 2 kids in school and 2 babes at home, but somehow - it hasn't been too terrible and for that I am truly amazed. A good friend even brought us warm chocolate chip cookies tonight.  So loved and blessed.

I also need to shout out to the man who did this to me I couldn't have survived without. Nathan, my husband who has been the most amazing partner in this scary scary journey. He has stayed calm cool and collected and honestly has been my rock. I love him to pieces and all that he has done to make me comfortable and the children maintain normalcy.  I wouldn't want to go through this with anyone else and I am so grateful that he didn't give up in perusing me. He truly is my perfect mate. :)  Or as Bridget would say he was made to finish my duet. :) Love Enchanted.

The Calm Before The Storm

I am not a fan of the 3's.
I also think that my kids have a rough bout of behavior right around their half birthday.
The week right before their birthday they seem to also turn into naughty naughty kids.

Bridget's birthday is in 14 days and she has been a sweetheart.
I am not going to lie, this makes me very nervous.

She and Scarlett have this new thing that when they wake up they get books, climb to the top bunk (Bridget's Bed) and read for 30-40 minutes.  They want no interruptions and usually bring their babies up to read with them.

Bridget also has a hard time being gentle with Juliet.
She is a great loving sister but she is ... how do I put it Elmira Fudd when it comes to babies...

She loves them and they can't wait to get out of her clutches. LOL
But I asked her to hold Juliet while Nathan was vacuuming and then they both fell asleep.

This "new" Bridget gives me mixed emotions.
Is this her new 4 year old self or is this the beginning of her worst week as a 3 year old?

Only time will tell I guess.
Regardless, we still love her and appreciate the spice she brings to the family...I hope it lasts. hehehe.

W

In kindergarten, every kid is responsible for filling a lunch sack with things that start with a particular letter.  Lucas's class only has 13 or 14 kids in it, which means he should be able to fill the bag twice.  He has waited ever so patiently for his turn.  Every week 1 - 2 students get to fill the bag and show and tell what's inside.  All of his friends have gone once and he would always check his homework folder for the coveted white lunch sack.

Friday was the day! He finally got the sack, and his letter assignment.  I was hoping for L, he was hoping for F, we were both happy when he got W.

He couldn't wait to fill it.
He made a list of things he wanted to fill the bag with, then over the weekend we stewed over what else we could stuff into that sack.  There is no limit, but he wanted more than 10 so we agreed on 17...

Here is his list...
Waterstick Bug
Wrench
Woodchips
W Magnet
Wallet
Wand
Worms (to share)
Witch
Winter
Wagon Wheels
Water Bottle
Watch
Witte Family
Walmart Bag
Whale
Watermelon
Watercolors

He was still thinking of things on his walk to school with Nathan, it was funny.
Wreath! Walk! Wow!

Love my smart boy!

Dat's Me!

I always love putting babies in front of mirrors.  They always think there is someone on the other side and sometimes they end up realizing it is actually them!

These are from a month ago and I totally forgot to post them. :)

I know its a shocker that I did this with the other kids!

Juliet was older than 6 months which is what the other kids were.  I think she is a little chunkier too! :)

She was starting to get mad that her little friend wouldn't leave. It was so funny.

This is the last time you will probably see the kids bathroom green.
This summer it is going to be converted to the girls bathroom since Lucas's room and bathroom will be permanently moved to the basement.  The girls want a "few-sh-a" bathroom (fuchsia) and Lucas is fine with that because he wants his bathroom to be aquamarine.

Since the flood a few months ago we have to rip out and redo the bathroom anyway so - its a win, win for me and my girlies, and Lucas too because he is tired of "steppin on hair ties" and sharing with the girls...and in this house there are a lot of those. :)
