Pack of Boys

Today was our MEGA building clean up/flag requirements day. I know it seems like all we do is cub scout lately, but with me being at the school 13+ hours a week, plus dance, plus basketball, plus PTO, plus callings, plus our 2x a week temple visits, not to mention Nathan's calling and me subbing in RS - there isn't much picture taking of the day to day stuff, because, its boring. That was a massive run-on sentence. Like, wow.

Anyway - in order for my pack to pass off a bunch at the blue and gold next month, we (the leaders) decided to have a mega pass off day.

We had the boys come and clean the church (requirement/service project) and then we did each Den's flag requirements together.

It was incredible. We had all but 3 show up. Not including the 7 boys who didn't need to be there (technically) or the boys moving UP into Wolves this year.

The kids were lucky because there was a band there practicing for our ward's Adult party for tonight.

Lucas and Brody are in the same class at school. They have become great little friends.

We finished cleaning, I handed out cuties, and then we started flag requirements.

All of the leaders were there too. It was great to have everyone working together.

It was 19 degrees out, and Lucas had just come from a basketball game. He was FREEZING.

This boy in the red jacket is cousins with some of our Colorado friends (Thorntons)
He is in Lucas's class too. It has been nice to have someone love the Rockies almost as much as Lucas.

We were home by Lunch and now we can shower and gussie ourselves up for Date Night! Woo-Hoo!

Pack Meeting - Money!

Another awesome Pack Meeting bites the dust. This activity I did money themed.
We talked about being resourceful and thrifty since Cubs are transitioning to the Boy Scouts Law and Oath. They earned the piggy bank segment. See it? I love these things.

Our boys earned a TON of awards this time. I am so proud of them.
We had 21 boys there, and they were so good.
We talked about being recourceful and then, I tied how a dollar bill was just like cub scouting for the awards. They each got a fresh crisp bill, and we talked and pointed out cool things that are similar.
The wolves were in charge of the skit. Bears were in charge of flag, and Webelos had snack. They also presented some cool posters they made.

Then we split up to play games. I had 3 games for them to play with REAL money. They loved this!

Bridget is always with the older boys. These 4 are Webelos.
(2 years older than Lucas, 3 older than B) Sigh.

It was so cool, and I was a little Miss Frizzle-ish. Hahaha.

Lucas completed his outdoor activity badge and his basketball belt loop.
I earned another pat on the back. Woot!

January 10 - Basketball

Lucas and Scarlett started Basketball on Saturday.

Lucas is on the 3/4 team and his coach is so great.
While the kids are on the sidelines he is giving them instructions. During practice, he motivates them to help each other out, cheer each other on,etc. This has been a fun transition for Lucas.

Lucas's form is so unique, but he makes it almost every time.

After Lucas's game, Scarlett's Kinder team played.

Nathan told her to do her best, and she shot the ball and made it in!
Her form is similar to another Witte I just mentioned.

Scarlett's coach is the Stake President in the neighboring Stake.

Scarlett had a great time, and was her usual, silly self.

Lucas's team won 22 to 9 and Scarlett's team scrimmaged the other team who didn't have enough players, this week.

It was a fun morning.
Especially for me! I was up and out the door at 5:15am to make it to the 6am temple session with a bunch of my new friends. We had a blast, and went out to breakfast. Then I got home just in time to go to the games. Nathan and I are trying to go to the temple 52 times EACH this year.
Since he has to go with the Stake all of the time, I will go with my AM bunch of moms.
Sometimes we will go together, but the challenge is on!

There is no excuse when it is 11 minutes away! :)

New Years!

It was 4 degrees out, and that didn't stop us!
We banged the pots and pans in style.

We got a few looks, but it just made it more fun.
We had waffles and cider and toasted to the new year!
We had boysenberry syrup instead of regular syrup.

Then we loaded up the car (in our snow gear) and drove up to Swan Valley, ID.
It is GORGEOUS here. People who complain about the winter, must never see it like this.

It had warmed up to a nice cool 9 degrees and we decided to hike and sled where ever we could find.

We spent the night, had 5 guys for dinner when we got home and then it happened. Everyone was sick. Too much grease? We don't eat fast food very often, so we are unsure of the reasoning.

Regardless, we hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
