"Fall" Field Trips

This is our second "field trip" and this time we went to Berry Patch Farms. We had a pretty good turn out, and the kids got to eat...I mean pick raspberries and strawberries then check out the animals and then eat lunch together.
This is Scarlett and Bacon Bits the pig.
Rocking in the rocking chairs...whee!!!
Mmmm, Raspberries!
Scarlett pigging out literally!
Pick some, eat some.
What-chu lookin at?
Taking the trailer to the Strawberry fields.
Scarlett knew just which ones to pick.
and eat!
She had eaten so many her fingers were stuck together from the juice.
Lucas proud of his pickings.
Bridget and Lindsey ready for lunch. :)
My kids waiting patiently for me to get lunch out of the van. They were so good. :)
Robert and Lucas having fun and Scarlett trying to join in.
It was fun and Scarlett was only mad because I caught her stealing cucumbers and trying to bite them right off the plant! Hahaha.

Thanks for the fun, and if you want to go again let me know...we are going to make raspberry ice cream tonight and will need to go get more later.

Special Quiet Time

Today, Wednesday is my Laundry Day.  I try to get ALL of the Laundry done today.  While I pulled the slip cover off the girls wanted to dress up. Quiet Time is usually from 8-9 in the morning. When I can start my list of things to do and don't have to hear Dora or Rescue Heroes on the TV.  Lucas chose to read books and the girls wanted to dress up.  Bridget picked up her Picnic Tote that I made her for our California trip.  Each kid got a felt tote for the trip.

Anyway. I start to fold the laundry and notice the girls totally playing together. It was so cute since Scarlett is all about Lucas these days.  She and Bridget were talking and saying please and thank you and I just had to stop and take pictures.  Adorable. I am so lucky to have cute well mannered kids. :)
I can't explain Bridget in any of these pictures.  All I can say is that she was born to pose?
Seeing these pictures makes me so glad I have a slip cover for that couch! :)
Scarlett was loving every minute of today's quiet time.
As for Bridget she just liked getting pictures taken. I think she enjoyed having time with her sister too...lets hope that this continues. :)

Obsessed with the Dress

So we went to Chelsea's Wedding a few weeks ago and ever since my kids have been obsessed with weddings. Bridget especially. Here are a few conversations I needed to write down...

Right after the wedding my kids were playing "wedding" Bridget demands on being Chelsea and she told Lucas he had to be Chelsea's boy who kisses her. "But Lucas don't kiss me on the mouth, I don't like that"

Lucas said "I won't - I will just be your hub-sand, like Daddy and I will only grab your bottom okay?

Then today after nap:

B - "Mom I only like Princesses."
Me - "Okay, for what?"
L- "She only wants princesses for her party."
Me - "What do you mean"
B - "No friends, just princesses like Chelsea."

Me - "Well your birthday isn't until after Halloween"
L - "Let's just take a trip to the Airport so Chelsea can come over"
Me - "Well she won't be in her wedding dress"
B - "Then forget it."

Seriously, she was the same way after Aunt Stephanie's wedding, except Uncle "Fio" (Theo) Wasn't a prince he was just "in our family forever-dan-ever"

If this continues Nathan is in big trouble when its time for Bridget to get married. :)

Notable Notes

Today at Church Lucas was recognized for singing the loudest in Primary. They had a contest -  it wasn't because he was the "best" singer but he was the loudest.  He even knew all of the words!

Also during singing time the Sunbeams (Lucas's class) were also recognized as the best class of singers. Nathan being the teacher, was proud. Also proud that Lucas controlled the volume enough for the class to win this prestigious recognition.

Then during sharing time Sister Rodriguez was talking about Moses freeing the Israelites and asked "What kinds of plagues did God send to Earth?" and Lucas shouted out "Golden ones!" The teacher was confused so Nathan (the teacher and father of Lucas) had to clarify..."He was thinking Plates, not Plagues" I guess everyone got a good laugh from that.

Saturday Morning Rituals

I remember being young and waking up at 6 with my sister and getting dressed in our soccer gear, going downstairs into the kitchen and grabbing some cereal, a Nutrigrain bar or if we were lucky a Poptart. While my dad was cutting orange slices for the game we would turn on the TV and watch PepperAnn, (my FAV cartoon) or Garfield and Friends or Gummi Bears. There would be a random California Raisins short, or Bump in the Night short, sometimes we would watch Tiny Toons, you know the list of shows would change every year but it was our Saturday morning ritual.

My kids have their own ritual every Saturday Morning we make muffins - but - before that happens my kids wake up at 6:45 come down and turn on the TV. They are not allowed to wake us up until 7.3.0. As soon as the oven says 7.3.0 they start to run upstairs and slowly open our door and then usually scream that they are "star-va-ling" Or if its Lucas he will sneak right up to your face and whisper "Um, mom its 7.3.0. and I am really hungry."

So Nathan and I will drag our bee-hinds out of bed and make muffins while my kids watch a show or two. Right now they love the Jetsons. Thank you Boomerang.  But when it is over they are stuck with shows they really don't like anymore like Handy Manny or Special Agent Oso. So instead of complaining they do this...
They sit UNDER the TV and read. Hahaha. I love it!
Bridget in Lucas's "old" jammies, Lucas in his soccer shorts, and Scarlett wearing 3T jammies.  So funny.
I hope they remember these moments as I remember mine.
Gotta run, the Raspberry Muffins are done!

First Day of School

For Glacier Peak Elementary! My kids aren't old enough yet but we have a little tradition in our house.  Since we live walking distance to the school we usually sit on the porch, eat donuts and watch the kids walk to school. Well, the Sollis's live right in front of the school so we asked them to join us in the tradition this year and everyone had fun.
Did I mention we are in our jammies and have to wave to everyone we know? Yep we do. This year everyone was laughing at the kids it could have been their chocolatey cheeks...
Oops, I meant these ones...
It was a fun morning waving at the kids stuffing their faces and drinking juice.

Horray for the first day of school! And for DONUTS!

*Side note* Last night at Enrichment I broke 3 toes and my friend Kathy sat with me in Urgent Care.  I didn't get home till 10:50 and I am so glad she was there with me.  I am hurting a lot, but I will be okay.  It was my fault for getting so upset and running outside but I am lucky to have people in my ward who are willing to serve even if it means they will miss enrichment! :)

Summer Time and the Livin is Easy...

I am not a fan of summer.  Its hot and uncomfortable, but my kids love it and my husband loves it so I have learned to kinda sorta like it.

My kids love to ride their bikes for hours. This summer has been spent doing just that...riding outside, eating too many popsicles, playing in the water and realizing it was 6pm a little too late. Our summer has been filled with late dinners and lazy nights and that has been nice.

Here are some pics from the other day that are just proof that they have been having a fun summer. I can't wait for fall to come, that is my favorite season...the whole reason why I moved to Colorado.
I also forgot to mention that we have been eating a TON of watermelon. Another sign of a good summer. :)
I miss riding my bike with my sister to the elementary school, I can't wait until my kids get to experience that with each other. :)

Your Time and My Time

I learned how to sew in February. When I say that I mean like sew sew, like clothing, bags you name it I have been trying to master it. Partly because it was one of my goals this year and partly because fabric is just as fun as paper!

More expensive than paper, but still fun! :)

Well I have been crazy busy sewing Quiet Books, Dresses, Book Bags, Crayon Rolls, Aprons, and Baby Bedding. Yes! Baby Bedding!

My sister in law is having a baby GIRL and I have been busy making her baby bedding!!!! I am lucky she let me do this and I really liked the whole process that I am going to start making more!

Here it is...
This is the bumper, I just made a slipcover for her old boy one so she could just take it off and wash it...I am so GREEN! LOL
Here is the blanket!
Yesterday was her shower and I think she liked it. I know Nathan did because he wouldn't stop talking about it! Haha.

Here is one of the MANY pillowcase dresses I have made. Bridget pretty much won't take them off. This is her most favorite one because it has ladybugs on it.
This one is a little short so I put some leggings on under it and it is ADORABLE! :)
Well I think so anyway.

Now

While I am working on these projects my kids are usually napping. But sometimes they are not and I tell them that this is "My Time" you should go have "Your Time"

So Lucas asked if he could borrow the camera and I said sure...
this is what they have been up to during "Their Time"

As you can see they aren't even fully dressed when they are having "Their Time" because sometimes I get in THE ZONE and I don't care what is going on around me. This is something I need to work on but if I did I wouldn't have seen this...

Can you tell...he's playing "Missionary" in his jammies. Hey! I was looking for that Kohl's coupon!

Its been fun sewing, and I thank Chrystal and Tara for teaching me and helping me so much in these past few months. Its been fun for me and my kids. Haha.

Just a story

We were at Platte Valley Hospital yesterday and Lucas was with me.  An old man said to Lucas watch out - there is a real fireplace behind you. Lucas turns around and looks at it and then looks at the man and says "Ak-shully, I am pretty sure this fireplace is 'Lectric because the wood is totally fake." The old man look stunned and then Lucas says to him "I am sure if you look hard enough you will find the switch to turn it on, I know bout these things cause I have one in my house." The man laughed and then Lucas said to me "Why do old people always laugh at me? I know I am really smart."

As I was typing this I got this email...

This is my father by the way. He's lost some weight and looks totally fab!

Anyway, I showed this to Lucas and he says..

"I knew my Grandpa could do it. What did he do?"
I said "climb a mountain"
He said "What? Is he in Colorado?"
I said "No that mountain in in California."
He said "O I was really hoping he was here so we could go to lunch at the Chinese Chang's with him"

Sorry Lucas. But Good Job Grandpa!

(Chinese Chang's is PF CHANGS)

PS I Love Lucas so much! :)

Woman's Work

Is never done! Hahaha.

Scarlett is such a help, and her favorite chore is sweeping. Usually she does it while she sings "tickle tickle little tar!" but today she dressed herself with glasses and a headband and of course...
...the shoes!

She is so funny, and happy and I just love that she loves to pitch in! :)
Guess I should get Bridget on the Laundry and Lucas working on the tubs! Hahaha.
