Hospital Stay

Lucas, poor sweet lil' Lucas. He wasn't sick on Saturday. He wasn't sick on Sunday. Then Sunday around 8:30 he started to cough. Monday he felt really hot but it was 85 degrees so we were all hot. I got some cough medicine because I thought it was a cold. Took his tempurature and it was 102.7 so I gave him a bath. All night he was up hacking and coughing. His eyes were puffy and he looked terrible. This morning he was up very early crying, and if you know Lucas he isn't a crier. He was whiny and asking for Mommy and he never does this either, I am happy to say that he is a very independent boy. Nathan took his tempurature at it was 103.2. I called the doctor to get him in and while I was on the phone with the nurse he fainted. He wasn't breathing really and I had to shake him to wake him. The nurse told me to go to the ER because he shouldn't be doing that and they couldn't get him in till 10am. (it was 7am) So I took him to go potty and his pee was steaming. I took his temp and it was 103.9 and I called Cindy my MIL to meet me at the hospital to help me with the kids.

When we got to triage he was shaking and couldn't even walk. He could only open one eye. I was trying not to cry but it was so hard because he was so miserable. They took his temp and rectal read 104. They quickly admitted him and he started to cry, he couldn't talk at this point and was really cotton-mouthed. They gave him some juice in a special cup and he slammed 2 cups of juice. The doctor checked him and couldn't find out what was wrong so they gave him some tylenol and ordered a chest x-ray because his breathing was not normal.

This is what he looked like after the tylenol...camera phone sorry...
So we went to X-Ray and he was quite the charmer with the X-Ray techs. He was in and out of sleep but he managed to woo them with his mad counting skills. They pulled out the big X-Ray machine and I said "Hey Look they are going to take a picture of you" and Lucas responded "cheese" in the most druggiest coma sounding voice. Then he thanked everyone and we went back to Grandma and Bridget in the room. This is Lucas modeling is hospital gown for Daddy since Nathan had just arrived at work. Lucas was happy to let me take pictures of him on my phone. See is druggy smile?

This is the Pulse-Ox they did on his BIG feet. They called it the glowy toe. His numbers weren't great but not bad enough to stay! YEAH! He watched some Elmo while we waited for the results. The doctor showed me the x-rays of Lucas's chest and his left Lung was full of mucus and junk. Lucas was diagnosed with pneumonia in the left Lung. Poor Baby!

He is on a few meds and will hopefully be okay in 10 days. (just in time for our big trip) Grrrrreat! And some may wonder how Bridget did for our 6 hour stay....well...let's just say Grandma works wonders on babies....

Please keep Lucas in your prayers, he's going to need them the next few days. :) Thanks!

Fadders Day

On Saturday we went to the Promenade for Ice Cream and Sprinklers to celebrate our Daddy. Partly because it was 93 degrees and Ice Cream sounded good and partly because he had to work that morning and we wanted to "shower" him with appreciation. So here's our fadders day tribute...
**
What we love about this guy called Dad is that he is fun, smart, and jumps right into things. All while he is wearing his Peaceful Valley ScoutCamp Tee-Shirt! :) We love our Daddy because he still acts like a kid when we are having fun, and because he is the coolest/nerdiest guy you will ever meet.
He teaches us lots of things, like how to not be afraid and how not to cry if it really doesn't hurt. He likes to splash and play in the water with us too.

He pushes us to be better and makes us look tan because he is so WHITE!

He makes us do things so we are not afraid of them later...

seriously!

He likes to take us on walks and tell us about things he wants to do with us when we are a little bit bigger.

He even passed on his good looks to one of us....

The only thing he really gave to Bridget was her beautiful eyelashes!

One day I hope to follow in this great guys footsteps! We love you Daddy!

Friday the 13th!!!

No pictures, but I thought I would just brag about how lucky we are to have family close to us! Ryan and Veronica watched the kids so we could have a date night, and I am so glad we went. The first thing we said when we got into the van with no kids was wait...no crying, no whining, no biiiiite! :) We went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner and I must say that ordering food and not having to worry about who will eat what or what we should order for the kids was wonderful!! The last time we went out without them was the night before I had Bridget. We then walked the Mills and did a little shopping and then had some good time to talk about anything but the kids. It was awesome! When we picked them up the kids were happy and looked like they had a great time. The whole way home Lucas was telling us about his day with Noah. It was so cute. So, THANK YOU RYAN and VERONICA for watching the kids! Next month is your month! :)

'Rackers

So Thursdays for me is my suprise/free day with the kids. All of my errands and chores are done by Thursday so this is the day we play, just chill at home, or sometimes go visit our friends. This Thursday was no different except that it was book group night, so that reminded me that I needed to make a few things for our group. The book we read was Anna Karenina...it is about 800 pages, but worth the read. I liked it but it had too much political stuff in it for me, but the characters and their stories were really good.

Anyway, I was working upstairs in the living room gathering all of my stuff together before we started the day (it was 7:45 am) and Lucas runs up the stairs to ask me for some "rackers" I ask him which ones and he points to the Wheat Club Crackers (which are delish) and I gave him one and he said "No Mommy I need two" so I give him two and he runs along his way. Now at our house between 7-8 is Clifford and Word World so that is Lucas's morning TV time so it wasn't suprising that he would want a little snack since he usually eats two breakfasts.

I am almost done with my stuff and I notice that Lucas is on his way back upstairs to ask me for more "rackers" he says two more and I am thinking there is no way he finihsed them that fast so I walk over to where he was sitting and this is what I saw:

(INSERT REACTION HERE) I could have been mad because I have caught Lucas feeding Bridget Mac and Cheese, Raisins, and all sorts of things but instead I quickly grab the camera because 2 things are happening in this picture (1) He is sharing FOOD and (2) They are watching a show and eating a snack and being nice! Well, that was more than two but still! :) Lucas knows better not to share food but I think Bridget stole it from him and just started gnawing on it. I ask Bridget what she has and she shoves it in her mouth like I am going to take it away! So I assumed that she was probably starving enough to want it. I watch them devour their morning snack and then tell them to finish so we can go get dressed...its time at this point... and Lucas and Bridget act like its their last bite...Just something that happened this regular old Thursday morning! :) They crack me up! :) Hahaha

Diary of a 7 month old

Sorry it's been a while, Mommy is always blogging so it is hard to get computer time. I still am a content baby. I like to watch my brother, then crawl to him and tackle him, I mostly like doing this because he doesn't like it. I am stronger than him because I have a killer death grip and he just can't handle my womanly powers of strength. I still like to get my brother in trouble by fake crying when ever I see him. One of my favorite things right now is to hug and play with the big yellow vaccum but only when it is off. I also like to help Lucas with the Laundry...see below.
I really do not like tights. (see below) I don't understand why anyone would want to wear them, you can't pull out grass with your toes if you are wearing tights, and I absolutely LOVE to do that.
I had a few CATscans last week because my doctor at my 6 month check up was concerned that I had fluid on my brain, but no worries, it all worked out, I just have a lot of brain activity and they want to test for gifted-ness when I turn one. Who knows maybe I have special powers! :) One thing is for sure I do not have the power to climb up the stairs yet. I try and try but lifting my knee up is just so hard!
I love to eat, I think I get that from my GreatGrandpa Jerry he liked food a lot too. I love noodles and anything Lucas gets in trouble feeding me. Yesterday it was a snickerdoodle...let me just tell you my mom makes good cookies! I also like to laugh. When I say laugh I mean laugh so hard you start to hiccup, and then that makes you laugh even harder!

I am so good at crawling now that Mommy had to put up the gate. I love to talk. I think it is ridiculous that my Grandpa never asks to talk to me when he is on the phone with Lucas, so I make sure he can hear how mad I am by wailing at the top of my lungs so he notices me.Anyway, I gotta run...things to pick up off the floor and shove in my mouth, and lots of people to see. Our neighbors invited us over for deep fried turkey dinner tonight, so I am looking forward to trying that. Can't wait till mommy figures out what I have left for her in my diaper. Hahahaha -Bridget Louise Witte (adventurer, future boxer, and pooper extraordinaire)

squeaky clean

Bridget just got out of the bath and we introduced her to a new friend...HERSELF! We did this with Lucas when he was 6.5 months and it was so cute! Enjoy my Bridgey-Lou and her twin... HERSELF!!

Obviously I couldn't help myself and had to put Lucas pictures in...hehehe My how things change...like the bathroom walls for instance! :) Hahahaha

What the???

My Mondays are usually filled with tons of fun, this Monday in particular was quite exciting. I do all of my laundry on Mondays. Today it was 9 loads! We don't usually leave the house because this is such a daunting task...I mean enjoyable (sarcastic) task, but today we had to check the mail so we were able to see our 85 degree day for a few moments! :) We had a great dinner followed by Snickers Ice Cream (thanks again parents) The ice cream was a Valerie original and was FAB-U-LOUS! We had a little free time before FHE so the kids played together. Now when I tell you that Bridget is in the 111th percentile for height you will think, no way can she be that tall. But this picture proves it....Lucas is 15 months older her and only a head taller than her!

It was so cute to watch them push, I mean play together, and then Nathan had to ruin it by putting Bridget to bed. Hahaha We all came down stairs to watch some dancing show when Nathan runs upstairs and then comes down and opens the sliding glass door. What the ???

We go to the front of the house and open the door and it is HAILING!!! I mean pounding the house so hard you are scared hailing! Of course my son wants to go out and touch it, and play in it, like forget he still has that black eye, but he doesn't care, he is Mr. Adventure! (yes there is a cape) So we let him try to touch it. and he LOVED the sounds. Then the hail stopped and it dumped rain like you wouldn't believe! So we opted to watch the storm instead of FHE tonight, there is always tomorrow!

Lucas caught one! The weather channel was reporting softball sized hail in our area but we only got golf ball size. I am shocked Lucas didn't go grab his clubs and try to golf them out of the grass! :)

Lucas trying for more...

Nathan hand, golf ball sized hail....
