Christmases Past

It is funny how every year in this house Christmas seems to be more exciting, more money and of course more kids! Hahaha.

Lets take a little trip down memory lane...

2004 - The Christmas before we were married
In California at my parents lovely under construction-ed home
We had to open presents in the kitchen because everything was taped up and covered in plastic!
We also went to Universal Studios to see The Polar Express IMAX on Christmas Eve

2005 - Our first Christmas together as a married crime fighting duo...J/K
I announced to my parents over the phone that for Christmas I was going to be putting together a crib because I was pregnant!

2006 - Lucas (5 months) First Christmas
Our borrowed tree from the neighbor

2007 - Lucas (16 months) Bridget (1 month) First Christmas
The tree we purchased 1 week before Christmas...long story
You will also notice the wood floors, yea I had Nathan install those 2 days before I had Bridget and I left the hospital early (less than 24 hours after birthing) so we could finish!
ALSO OUR THEME WAS edible ornaments

Look at those floors!

2008 - Lucas (almost 2.5) Bridget (1year) Me (very pregnant)
My sister couldn't handle the 2 week hiatus between our BIG Florida Trip at Thanksgiving so she joined us for Christmas this particular year. You will notice the entire house (interior) has been painted a different color this year.
ALSO OUR THEME WAS personalized dough ornaments

2009 - Lucas (3) Bridget (2) and Scarlett (9months) First Christmas
We should be in Utah but after a series of unfortunate events in the past 4 days we are here in Colorado.
(till February, till February *sniff*)
ALSO OUR THEME WAS paper ornaments

Grandma Horn picked out these adorable outfits, and I just couldn't wait till Christmas to put them in 'em!

Hopefully in 2010 or 2011 we will be in Sunny California for Christmas, as it is my parents turn to see the excitement of my Itty Bitty Wittes on Christmas morning.

Happy Christmas Eve, we are headed to the Witte's for Christmas Eve festivities!

Arvada Christmas Nativity Pageant

This weekend we went to go see Grandpa Witte in the Arvada Christmas Nativity Pageant.  We needed to do something to get out of the house since Nathan was still not feeling well after Friday's episode.

At Church and at home we have been talking about what Christmas means and the story of Jesus's birth and they seemed to really get it, and this really helped with that.

It was all live action with singing and it was really a beautiful program.

Some of my favorite comments from the kids were...
"Why are we still looking at that baby?" -L
"Because we are listening to the music"- me
"But it will make him wake up and then he will start crying" - L
"It will be fine." - me
"Mommy, they don't have that baby wrapped up enough, it is very cold on my butt so that baby must be very cold" - L
"Joseph and Mary didn't have anything else o wrap him in" -me
"I can give him my jacket, I don't really like blue anymore" - L
"Shh, Lucas that is very nice, but there were no jackets in the olden days" - me
"What did Grandpa Witte do when there were no jackets in the olden days?" - L
"Lucas that was a very long time ago, please be quiet we are trying to pay attention and listen to the story" - me
"Okay, but I am just really worried about that freez-a-ling- baby up there." -L
"He will be alright." - me
Then he gave me a huge grin and a hug. I love that boy!

It was pretty cold on those metal chairs, but Scarlet was pretty happy to be outside and on Daddy's lap!

Then the Wise Men came and Bridget yelled
"Grandpa's wearing a dress!"
Everyone around me laughed.

Grandpa Witte is on the far left.

When the Wisemen brought up the gifts, Lucas said...
"I don't know why any baby would want gold and funky scents...a firetruck is more fun"
It was such a nice program and Bridget and Lucas ran up and gave Grandpa a big hug, and then tried to take his crown. :)

The End!

Dear Keegan,

We had such a fun time playing with you these past few months.  We knew what Tuesday meant and eagerly got dressed and waited by the door in anticipation.  We made a lot of projects, had a lot of fun, but our last day together (yesterday) was so much fun!

We played toy hunt in the closet with Robert and Tanner.

We had fun playing legos.

Bridget put her socks on all by herself.

We had lots of fun with bubbles, and the best part was going to the park in DECEMBER!!!!

Thank you so much for coming over every week.
We will miss you and can't wait to meet your cute baby sister!

Love, Lucas, Bridget and of course your girlfriend...

Togetherness and The Tan People

There is just something about that fresh scent of bath on a kid that is just so...nice. Tonight we did Family Home Evening because we had something going on Monday night, but it was just a quiet evening with a little puzzle doing while listening to Christmas Music.  We talked about Christmas and how some people don't celebrate it, and Lucas was really sad about it.  I told him that some people celebrate Hanukkah and he looked at me and said "I know those people, they are the really tan people."  I had no words.

I love my family, and the quiet evenings of togetherness that make it so special at home.

Posterity

Most people never click on the videos, which is fine you don't have to.  I just wanted to document my phlemy voice singing my kids songs. Oh and them singing them too!

Kid songs?  Why yes, each one of my kids has a made up song that Nathan and I made up when they were babies.  It was supposed to be a calm down song but it ended up being their own happy song over the years (3) enjoy - or don't.

Ahem. (See phlem in the throat) Here it goes.

Lucas's Songs
Are we going, to the Lukey-Lao
Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey-Lao
Everybody, do the Lukey-Lao
Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey-Lao

(not sung below)
We'll throw our hats right into the sea
and all of the Lukey's will come swimming to me
Are we going to the Lukey-Lao
Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey, Lukey-Lao
(Hookey Lao -Hawaiian song)

Also for Lucas
"I love Lu-cas
yes I do,
I love Lu-cas
how 'bout you?

Bridget's songs
I love Bridgey in the springtime
I love Bridgey in the fall
I love Bridgey in the winter when its cold out
I love Bridgey everyday...Hey!
(I love Paris in the Springtime)

Also for Bridget
I love Bridg-it
yes I do,
I love Bridg-it
how 'bout you?

Scarlett's Songs
Scarlett, the littlest Witte,
Scarlett, sure she's pretty,
Everybody thinks so,
Everybody knows so,
You are the cute-ie-st cute
(Lambert, the sheepest lion-disney cartoon)

Also Lucas's/Scarlett's Song,
A choo ma moo
A choo ma moo
A choo ma moo ma moo
(from veggie tales)

I needed to post them because now they all (except Scarlett) sings them, and LOVES them.
And I am sure those who have been to my house or in my van have heard these a time or two!

I love my babes, and music!

Uh Oh!

She's 9 months!

Happy with a key and a wallet!

So, she may not look that big but she is wearing 12-18 month clothes already. She is a heafty 22 pounds and now she is talking!

She says mamama, dadada, uh-oh, and nods yes and no.  I would also like to add that she has no teeth, and lucky for us is so over baby food.  That was a fast 3 months!  She love Cheese Sandwiches, Ritz crackers and frozen veggies. She especially loves Deli Ham. Weird.

She loves to climb and giggle and she loves people!  She is the happiest Witte yet!  She loves Grandma's and her Daddy.  Her favorite toys are little people and Daddy's Laptop

Happy 9 month birthday Scarlett!

Christmas Dessert Social

Why do I worry about sign ups?  Why do I worry about attendance?  Why do I worry period?  My Ward always comes through, we ended up only having 15 signups for the Christmas Party and we had about 32 desserts show up.  I was worried about attendance because people complained about it being on a Friday night, and you know what  - we had about 170 there!  The Primary craft project was great, Santa was awesome and it was such a nice relaxed activity.  I love the ward when things happen like that!

I was worried my kids would feel neglected...

because I was running the activity, but Keegan took care of them...well the girls anyway! (see last nights post)

I was worried they wouldn't have any fun...

because the youth helped take care of them and they were fine!

I was worried about not getting any good pictures...

but I did of everyone AND my kids!

*funny story - Santa asked Lucas what he wanted for Christmas.
Lucas - "I really really want the GIANT 85 dollar firetruck that my mom says I can't have until I am bigger, like at least 5"
Santa - Wow, well if that's what your mommy says, then---(Lucas interrupts)
Lucas - "I know she is the boss"
Santa - That's right - but I know you are being a good boy---(Lucas interrupts)
Lucas - "I haven't even had an accident in years!"
Santa - (puzzled) Good for you Lucas! ...Now, Bridget what would you like for Christmas?"
Lucas - "She really wants me to have that firetruck Santa"
Santa - (hysterically laughing) Well she is a very nice sister
Lucas - "I guess so, excepts she is still in a diaper"

Thought I'd share that.

Lucas spread some Christmas Cheer, while Bridget caught up with her friend Camryn.

It was a great turn out, great desserts and we were home by 9:20...SCORE!
I am glad its over and ready to set up the Christmas decorations in the house...since we used OUR tree for the party! :)
