A Performance

Bridget is in acting/drama class. It has been going on all summer.
She absolutely, unequivocally, loves the idea of being on stage, being a star, and performance.

We tried dance, and that was great-but not like Drama. She will be starting dance, with Scarlett in January.

She is trying out for her first play (Magic Tree House) next week and when I asked how she felt about it she said "I am totally not worried, I have facial animation and dramatic effect down!"

Last night was her class performance, each kid had to write their own part and act it out.
At the last minute another girl freaked out and pretty much "stole" Bravo Bridget's monologue. (her own nickname in class) The teachers scrambled and they changed a part of Bridget's personally written monologue and she got the two mixed up, but as you can see, that didn't phase her one bit.

This did not ruin her experience in the least, she told her Daddy on the drive home "that a true actress needs to be up for last minute changes. She must work on that!"

Now without further adieu, here is a piece of the whole play.

Nathan will not be filming the next one! Yeesh!

(There were 2 Elsas and 2 Annas and a bunch of random Disney Characters in this class written play)

She was also in another part of the play, which the video is too large for my to upload.
And she learned all about musical theater, and performed "My Favorite Things"

All in all, this "practice" class did just what it was supposed to do.
She can't wait for the next "season" where they get to be on real stage!

First Day of School!

The kids were so ready to go to school.
On Monday they met their teachers and were super excited to be in their classes.

Donuts on the Driveway, Waving to the passerby's, and then head to school.

Everyone is at school for the whole day. Scarlett got to school and realized her water bottle was at home. All pictures after this realization look like this...
At least I have a cute one of her BFF, E.
Bridget, very proud of this outfit.

After school I talked to the teachers.

Scarlett's teacher told me a bunch of things that happened today.
All funny.

First, her classroom jack and jill's with another AM only Kinder class.
After Scarlett went to the bathroom she accidentally walked into the wrong class.
Instead of getting scared, she recognized her church friends and decided to just stop and talk to them for a few minutes. When Scarlett's teacher realized she had been gone too long, she looked over and sees Scarlett chatting it up with her friends like it was no big deal.

Scarlett's teacher explained the centers for the day and then had everyone pick a center they wanted to do.
Scarlett decided that she was going to sit and read instead.
When her teacher looked over and saw her reading she quickly ran over to "reprimand" her.
When she got over there she saw that Scarlett was reading to 3 other kids in the class. Like a personal story time. Her teacher was so caught off guard she let Scarlett finish the story and then had her go to centers, to which Scarlett replied, "Pete the Cat is a great series, I wanted everyone to know about it."

Someone called Scarlett, Bridget. She got really mad. The person who did it asked what she was doing and she said "just being Tinkerbell for a minute, hold on. My name is Scarlett, I am nothing like Bridget, soon you will figure it out and you will be sorry!"

Oh man! Just makes me laugh all over again just thinking about it.

Witte End of Summer Picnic

First, we went and got hair cuts. We were the first 4 people there!

Before...

We ran a million and a half errands, and bought new shoes for everyone, *cough* too much money.
Then we went to the Peter Pan Pirate Park to celebrate the last day of Summer with the other Wittes!

The sky was pretty scary and we did end up getting some rain, but that didn't stop us.

We had dinner at the park, ran into some ward friends, and Lucas's first pediatrician!
He was like "hey! I was at your wedding!" It was funny. He couldn't believe I had 5 kids and that Lucas was 8 years old.

Then it turned cold, so we snuggled and then went home.

Okay school, bring it on!

Pack Meeting #2 - Bottle Rockets!

All of my boys earned 3 belt loops at Day Camp, and Lucas earned one more.

At home they made their own bottle rockets and brought them to pack. There were some great designs. Then they launched them with something Bro. Mickelson made, and boy! did they fly!
100+ feet in the air. The boys would run and chase the landing rockets. It was a nice night for it.

We had rocket pops for dessert.

I am really loving my new calling. It has been awhile since I have really enjoyed a calling.
I seem to always have scouts on my mind now.

This was a great low key pack meeting.

Berry Picking!

Nathan had to work most of Saturday because he was on call. This isn't something that happens very often, and because a one hour thing turned into 12+ hours and a Sunday work day as well, he was awarded Monday afternoon and Tuesday completely off.

Tuesday we took advantage of having Dad home and headed out at 8am.
It was beautiful outside. 77 degrees and breezy.

We hit up an old favorite. It is 35 minutes away, but worth it.
The closer berry patch is 10 minutes by car, and biking distance for us, but it is only open on Saturdays this year. HERE is the last time we were at THIS particular farm. 2012

We were the only pickers there. The kids had so much fun picking and dumping into the measure bags.

4 pounds of reds, 2 blacks, and 1 white raspberries.

We made Raspberry Crumble, and a new type of Raspberry Ice Cream. This one was better than last time.

We sprinkled mini chocolate chips on the ice cream. Juliet was being silly here.

After the farm I went to the old Den Leader's house and started my reorganizing of Cub Scouts. Really just organizing, because lets face it, no one is as crazy organized as I am.

It was a fun Tuesday.

Stephanie endings

It rained a lot while she was here. So, we soaked up our time with Aunt Stephanie!

We colored together!

We opened up the box of goodies she sent from the 80s and 90s.
She gave me, read ME, all of our old barbies and babies. The kids including Lucas enjoyed them
(shh! dont tell)

Steph and I even redecorated our barbie house for the kids to play with!

This was one of my favorites growing up...

It is MASON!!! LOL

We ate waaaaaaay to many popsicles.

and practiced new braids.

Jules even inherited Steph's mint condition cabbage patches.
She named them Lucy and Monica.
Pronounced "Soo-sie and Nanica"

I was so depressed when they left that it took this long for me to post. LOL
I needed to decompress, and get my mind wrapped around my new calling.
"Den Leader"
*sigh*
This will be fun.
