Friends Over, part 2

Bridget has a million and one friends.
One of them is Savannah.

We have weekly play dates and they have the best time together.

They were even on the field trip together.

Well, like I mentioned earlier, Savannah broke her arm in 2 places 2 days before school got out.
Bridget was the first to sign it!

She is going to camp with a bunch of her friends this summer.
Savannah is excited to have her own Bridget time.

I am so glad she has friends. (not that I was EVER worried) Haha

Kinder Party

Kindergarten had a blow out party.
They had some songs, some dances, an adorable video, which we each took home, and it was so cute!

 They had a photobooth too!

Scarlett's teacher Miss Kirby is awesome. She is exactly how I would be if I were a teacher.
I love her so much! Scarlett does too!

Here is my favorite song - We're Kindergartners - to the tune of We are the Champions.

Scarlett had a great year. She swore off friends the first month because she missed Emma (her friend in Colorado) and there were 7 other Emmas in Kindergarten/Church so she had a reminder almost everyday, but then Miss Kirby convinced her that she could have just as much fun as the friends here and then she clicked. Scarlett has a bunch of friends, she is silly and smart and I have loved seeing her grow this year.

On Wednesdays I would come in and volunteer in the reading groups.
Scarlett was usually in 1st grade for reading, but occasionally I would humor her and pull her out to read to me. She LOVED doing that!

I also was able to go to the zoo field trip!
Here she is with her pal, Cambria

She loved taking the bus, she would usually wait outside for FISH the driver

I am so glad she had a great year.
We are both glad she will be in 1st next year!

Field Day!

This school goes ALL out for field day.
For grades 1-5 it is on Tuesday. 6th grade has their mega goodbye/graduation party at the same time for the whole day.
Kinder is on Wednesday (their last day) and on Thursday - the last day of school it is a short day and the whole school watches the 6th grade vs teachers basketball game.
Which I didn't let my class go to because the room was trashed and I didn't have that many interested.
Once the cleaning was done, I let the 4 boys who were dying to go, check it out while the girls did yearbooks, etc.

Did I mention that I did the yearbook?
I did! It looked awesome.

Okay, field day!!

It is broken down into 5 parts

Large Group Games
Relays
Bingo in the Library
Minute to Win it in the Courtyard
Movie in the Gym

Nathan took the day off, and helped while I rotated with my class.
So, here are the pictures!

Every station had these:

and then, kindergarten:

Each kid had their favorite part, Sno Cones was at the very top spot of the list.

Recitals

Jules and Bridge have been going to dance since we moved here.
The day had come for the recital, and they were SO EXCITED!

Here they are in their first costumes.
 Juliet and her pal, Olivia.
 Here is another one!
Bridget with her friend Abigail Jo, she goes by AbbyJo

Here are some videos - Juliet's is #2 from the left. There is a partner part, and it got messed up because one girl was on the wrong end - her reaction at 1:58 is adorable the crowd even gave her some awws.

The other videos aren't as "cute" the dances are, and my girls are - but the background noise sucks!

Bridget is #2 in this picture.

Father/Sons Camp Out - Mother/Daughter Sleepover

Lucas and Mason were SO excited for the camp out. Our Stake is so massive (well, more like the area is so concentrated with LDS members) that each ward has their own camp out instead of the whole stake. There is no where big enough for the whole stake, so they break it up. Anywho - Nathan took the boys immediately after school last Friday (May 29)

The ward provided all of the food and activities.
Nathan said it was awesome.
They went canoeing, and had a fun campfire fireside and my boys came home filthy.

***

Meanwhile, back at the ranch -
Bridget had her BFF Savannah over (again) this is where I tell you Bridget has a million friends.
She was built for moving because she makes friends easily.
When the other girls heard how much fun it is at Bridget's everyone decided to stop by and play.
We colored and danced and then - I sent them home.
Savannah, Bridget, Avrie, Hailey

For dinner, my gals and I had Smore crostinis, and meat and melty cheese crostinis.
 S'macos
Watched the little princess, and worked on recital hair.
We had fun, and ate donuts for breakfast.

When the boys got home we hurried up and headed to Rigby for the girls dance recital.
I'll post about that tomorrow!

More Memorial Weekend 2015

We picked up subway and then right on to the snow caves. We ate in the parking lot because there were no tables, or lounging area. It was the desert.

The snow caves are part of the 17 volcanoes in Idaho.
This particular cave was a lava tube.
Nathan of course loved the rock talk.
In the cave, it was less than 20 degrees. The bottom of the cave was covered in thick, thick ice.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the cave, and our kids asked 14 questions.
Mason just HAD to touch the ice.
Then we went to our next stop.
We were not planning on going to Craters of the Moon, but it was 30 minutes out of our way, on the way home,so we thought, why not?

Mason wanted a pressed penny. The kids went in to the national park HQ.
It was raining, but nothing too terrible.
As we were headed up, we saw our ward friends, The Warners. They are a lot like us. 5 kids same order, husbands work in similar fields, and remotley. And they bought the house I wanted, because they moved here in October too! Haha.

Craters of the Moon is where all the lava rock has settled. 8 of the 17 volcanoes are in Craters of the Moon National Park!
Lucas and Mason hiding from the full on downpour.

At the top of one of the cones you could climb.
 All of this is Lava.

 Funny Story:
This was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Nathan and Lucas and Scarlett walk up the hill. (it is a big hill covered in lava rock) then it starts to down pour. I look up the hill and see Lucas running down frantically screaming "it hurts, it hurts" and then following him 14 other people running down the hill. It was hailing like crazy. I don't see Nathan or Scarlett until I see him yelling at her to stay by him so the umbrella could block the hail. What does my 6 year old do? She runs all over the place like a tazmanian devil, crying and laughing and screaming. Everyone is in their cars watching this little girl going in a zig zag pattern all over the hill - and Nathan trying to wrangle her. But, you couldn't help but laugh. They were soaking wet, had ice pellets in their hair and the "storm" lasted maybe 8 minutes. When we talked about our favorite part of Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve they said this was it! Even my kids in the car watching it happen, said this was the best part. I guess this is how my itty bitty wittes make memories.

More Lava Flow!
We drove home and talked about what memorial day meant, and why there were flags everywhere, and the kids were so quiet on the way home. Luckily, we had beautiful views on the drive back to Ammon.

I am so glad we decided to take this mini trip. Woot!
