Recitals

Jules and Bridge have been going to dance since we moved here.
The day had come for the recital, and they were SO EXCITED!

Here they are in their first costumes.
 Juliet and her pal, Olivia.
 Here is another one!
Bridget with her friend Abigail Jo, she goes by AbbyJo

Here are some videos - Juliet's is #2 from the left. There is a partner part, and it got messed up because one girl was on the wrong end - her reaction at 1:58 is adorable the crowd even gave her some awws.

The other videos aren't as "cute" the dances are, and my girls are - but the background noise sucks!

Bridget is #2 in this picture.

Music Showcase

Lucas's school had a Music Showcase this week. His Music teacher is incredible! She has such passion and love for her job and it bleeds into those kids. Lucas loooooves Mrs. S and hopes to be in the play next year.

Even Mrs. H (Lucas's teacher) couldn't resist and stayed for the performance.

We were mice and the class were frogs.

This was part of the play. I just thought it was cute.

This is one of my most favorite classes at the school.
It is so colorful and inviting!

We (the parents) were able to play some music games with the kids, and I spotted this!

YES! A Glockenspiel!

That is Mrs. S dancing with the kids.

Here is a mini video, Lucas was so excited for us to be there.

A Treat

This morning we opened our door to this!
A special treat from our ward's neighborhood treat phantom! They did this last year at Christmas time, but this year I guess they are starting early! :) I thought Sunday's session would be a perfect time to make, bake and decorate cupcakes for the two houses we are supposed to hit by Tuesday, so that is what Lucas and I did today.

He was very excited to sport his new apron! This one is from Auntie Steph. He loves to cook and clean so this was a perfect little suprise gift for him! :)
He wanted to make chocolate cakes with wite frostin', so we did and in honor of Noggin's October song we topped them with Candy Corn.
Lucas assured me that he needed to taste 2 cakes to make sure they were all okay. I thik they turned out pretty cute.
And now for the song...
I dedicate this song to Bridget and Gwendolyn Smith, who this song mostly applies to! :)

Under the Shady Tree...

...you two and me! I LOVE Laurie Berkner! I have her DVD, all 4 CD's and if she were ever to come to Denver I would buy tickets for everyone I know, just so they could see how awesome she really is!

I am posting, so that someone could see what they are missing here while they are in Arizona. Today the high was 65, it was beautiful, breezy and so chill. So much better than the 100 degree he had in Arizona last night at 8:30 pm! YUCK!

Today we ate PB &J fingers on the lawn and sat under the Shady Tree and enjoyed some soccer fun...More ducky time....
Sharpening our teeth on the lawn rocks...
Crab Crawling down the hill...
but mostly we just enjoyed watching the trash trucks pick up everyone's trash on our street.
Oh, and waiting for the mailman to come. Ahh, the life of a stay at home mom...I love it! I love not being busy and just enjoying my kids, and the beautiful Colorado weather.

Oh and this video!

So Nathan, you better be missing us! These pictures should make you vewy, vewy homesick!

Music Monday #4

Today we made horns. Some call these kazoos but I have another way to make kazoos, ah another week.

This is what you need...
Wax paper, Construction paper, glue, tape, something sharp (wooden skewer) rubber bands, scissors, and of couple toilet paper tubes.

Let's construct...
First you cute the construction paper the width of the tubes. Then you glue the paper to the tube. For extra hold tape the seam of the construction paper to the tube.
This is Lucas making sure we did a good job. :) Crazy boy!
Then you poke holes into the tubes, so you can change the sound later. Like a horn.
After that cut the wax paper into a square, and put on the top of the tube. wrap a rubber band around the top and you have a horn! Blow into it for a tooting good time. Here is the finished product. This project was very easy and practically no mess. Lucas enjoyed the cutting the most. I recommend this to anyone with a toddler running around their house. Happy Monday!

Music Monday #3

Today we made Flat Maracas, next week we will make round ones.

Before we could start the kids wanted a snack. I know the picture is crooked but Bridget looks like a doll sitting in that chair!
Here is what you need:
(the scent crayons aren't necessary but I had them and Lucas wanted to use the stinky crayons)
First color the plates
(I used small plates because I have kids with little hands, but you could use big ones.)
Bridget thought it was hilarious to sit with Lucas
Then you staple all around the edges, leaving a 2 inch hole at the top. Then you fill with rice.
(You don't have to use rice, dry popcorn-unpopped, salt, beans...anything will work)
Lucas was very into this, look how serious he is!
Bridget opted to use her hands
The last thing you do is staple the last 2 inches of the plate and shake away!
(staples work much better than glue and you don't have to worry about dry time)
Lucas was double checking my stapling job.
They were quite easy to make and will last a very long time. We put them in our music box and will use them for Jack's Big Music Show tonight. We are doing a music themed Family Home Evening.

(these pictures were all taken in Bridget's room, yes those diamonds are hand painted. My husband is great at full filling my visions. It looks awesome trust me!)

Happy Monday everyone!

Music Monday #2

I wanted to save these pictures for Music Monday because it totally fits! Happy Monday!

Last week on Wednesday we had to go emergency babysit the Jones's. Which was actually fine with us because Lucas LOVES Larke. He licks her almost every Sunday. It is this thing he has done since she was born (2 months after him.) They are great little friends. Lucas and Larke grabbed some guitars and were totally jamming out on the stairs. Bridget was sitting there watching and so Lucas got up and grabbed a guitar for Bridget. He is nice like that...sometimes. Anyway they were playing for a good 30 minutes and I of course took pictures because it was so FREAKING cute. Here they are...
Lucas is putting on the moves

Larke is so enthralled

What, you were watching us?
