25. Thinking Thursdays

On Thursdays we spend the day working hard on our skills.

The kids were able to take some art classes with a lady in the ward. They loved the class, and on Thinking Thursdays we would throw in some art into the units we worked on.

The kids get to work on the table all day long. It is great to show off at Dinner time. :)

It is totally covered in artwork by Friday morning.

Spirit Day 4, and Last Day of School!

Spirit Day 4 was Hawaiian/Beach Day

and the lovely Mrs.H.

Today was GP pride day, but Lucas didn't have any peak attire. oops!

Anyway on to the rest of the day.

Here is the First Day of 1st Grade.

It is amazing to see the growth in your child when you stop and look back.

I know Lucas has grown a lot in his development and his personality but he has really become a better person thanks to Mrs.H. She didn't try to change him, she wanted him to work to his full potential and challenged him daily. I am grateful for such a great teacher this year.

Lucas by nature is a worrier and perfectionist. Mrs. H taught him to do his first grade best, and to only compete with himself. She really challenged him and made sure he knew that he was a good kid.

The kids all walked him to school today. Normally it is just Nathan, but today they insisted.
There was a lot of love for Lucas.

(and Mason)

This picture makes me laugh so hard. ^^^^

At the beginning of the year, Lucas was so upset that Robert wasn't in his class. But, I think they are better friends for it. They are growing up so fast.

Well, after a goodbye Lucas was ready to end first grade!

Lucas begged to buy on his last day. Apparently "cooks choice" is so cool. The last 2 days of school, the kids get to eat where ever they want outside! I surprised Lucas and had lunch with him. He was SO excited!

Well, shocked. Haha.

I asked Mrs. H if she needed any help and she hugged me and said YES! YES! So I spent the rest of the day tearing down first grade. I also got to watch a Readers Theater. Lucas was chosen to be the narrator. He liked that because it had the most sentences.

Then, with the last 20 minutes, Mrs. H asked the kids to talk about what their favorite part of 1st Grade was. I was mentioned 2x! It was when I made them do the 100 day centers. Haha.

Then the bell went off and everyone said good bye with no tears, and then it happened. Lucas said to Mrs. H," I will miss you more than hot lunch and recess." I looked at her and she looked at me and we both started crying. :*(  He said he would write to her and she gave him her real address.

After school we went to Costco and then to a new dinner spot...

 Buffalo Wild Wings. Mmmmm.

I am excited for summer. No "schedules," no where we "have" to be.
Fun things ahead for my wittle wittes.

Preschool Graduation/Last Day!

Yesterday was Bridget and Scarlett's last day of school.

Juliet just wanted to be included. :)

Scarlett and her church pal, Allison.

 Scarlett and Mrs. Lovely.

Bridget and Lindsey.

Bridget and Mrs. McDonald.

It was time for the program. I love going to the programs and listening to the songs they have learned.
Preschool Graduation is fun when you know where you are going next year!

Last song. The lady in front of me was taking video with her dumb Ipad and was blocking everyone behind her. I looked around and saw so many people using their Ipads as cameras. How sad, and silly those things are huge.

Bridget going over the bridge to Kindergarten.
We celebrated by going to Red Mango for Ice Cream!

We all shared. I love when we can buy 3 big ice creams and all share.

Hey look! I was there!
I even shared my white chocolate with cookie dough and chocolate chip cup!

Spirit Week,Day 3

Today was SuperHero Day and it was specified "no costumes" so we went a different route. Lucas really wanted a Captain America shirt, but I couldn't find one. I suggested Iron Man and he shrugged but said okay. I found this green one and thought Hey! He should be Dr. Sheldon Cooper too! Lucas is already a lot like Sheldon so, it would work. I also had this Gap jacket for Mason that would be perfect for a Dr. Leonard Hofstetter so that is what we decided to do.

Here are stills from the show...

Oh, and the guy in the blue pants is TOTALLY Nathan. Haha

So we headed to school, and Lucas thought he was pretty cool until Allen was wearing THIS:

I had told Lucas to be Superman JUST like this, last week and he said no.

And, Hazel (principal's daughter) was wearing this even though it said no costumes.

Lucas was so mad until the doors opened and his teacher, Mrs. H said
"Sheldon! Leonard! Lucas! What a great idea! This is perfect for you!"
She laughed and then called another teacher who also loves Big Bang Theory to the door to see Lucas and Mason dressed up. Lucas walked into first grade with a HUGE smile.
We love this show, and for a while now people have been telling us about the similarities between Sheldon and Lucas. They were right. (mostly) We just had the friends with benefits talk with Lucas a few weeks ago.
Lucas asked us why friends would give health insurance. HAHAHAHAHA
