I HAVE ONE KID IN DIAPERS!!!!!
Bridget decided last week on Monday that she needed Princess Panties. Not only did she need them but she no longer wanted a diaper. I shrugged my shoulders and thought I would go ahead and attempt to potty train her since she was asking. I don't like to potty train before 2.5 because typically kids aren't ready at that time, but if she was asking...I was willing.
I went to the store, picked out a pack of 5 princess panties, and in 3 days she potty trained...she had 1 morning accident and FREAKED out when she peed on the princess panties. She had 1 night time accident, I made her clean it up and that was it. She is potty trained through the night at 2.4 years old.
In our house we use a potty chart, if you fill it up including bowel movements you get to pick out something as a reward for your hard work. If you regress it is something I can take away. She has done a fantastic job and we are so proud of her.
She is such a big girl and I am happy she did it early, but even happier I didn't push her into it or force her do do something she wasn't ready to do. If you are thinking about potty training, make sure your child is showing the signs and is ready-otherwise it is a complete waste of your time. I would like to add that I don't believe in Pull Ups and we have never used them in my house. There is no specific age to potty train, and there is no right or wrong in your methods, just don't get mad at them for having an accident. I would also like to add that if your child can't go by themself then they are not potty trained...and when I say that I mean get up and go on their own. I only say this because I am certified in the state on Potty Training, and I know my stuff! Okay off the soapbox -
Way to go Bridgey-Goose!
Yay Bridget! I love what you said about potty training... very cool. I think people forget that sometimes. People say girls are easier, but Andur was easier than Natalie. Just goes to show you all kids are different and are only ready when they're ready.
ReplyDeleteSide note: Your bathroom looks like the exact same color as our living room in our last house. Just thought you'd like to know. lol
I love it!!!!
ReplyDelete"Congrats! That's awesome!"
ReplyDeleteYeah! Way to go Bridgett! Also have to agree with you on the pull-ups I think they are the absolute WORST thing ever invented.
ReplyDeleteGood job Bridget!! You rock. What a big girl.
