Weekend at the Cabin! (day 1)

We had the opportunity to head up to the cabin in Winter Park.

The kids were stoked because that meant loads of Wittes!
The drive was gorgeous. Scary, but gorgeous!

We got there and started to unload. The kids just hung out for a bit.

The kids were eager to play in the tall snow.

Juliet is such a happy girl.

The kids walked right in, it was so fluffy and fun. Nathan weighs a little more that the kids, so it was a lot deeper for him.

Jules was SO happy to play in it.

Bridget and Scarlett off in wonderland.

The girls tuckered out quickly but Lucas and Nathan and Grandpa plowed on.
They built a pretty impressive snow cave!

Even the neighbor commented about it!
Then the cousins arrived and it was time for dinner and games.

We had valentines cupcakes and enjoyed each others company. It was loads of laughs.

Scarlett and Sydney making lipstick with their frosting.

Lucas saying thank you.

Lucas and Noah working on a new handshake. It is a 2nd grader thing for boys, I guess.

Veronica and I have raised some good little boys.
They are great little friends.I always wished for cousins who lived close when I was young.

The kids enjpying their valentines from Gma and Gpa Witte.

Kiddos in their Valentines Day Jammies.

It was a great first night at the cabin!
I love that our kids are older and just go and play with each other.

Forney Transportation Museum

In our efforts to keep up on "visit a different museum every month this year" - we decided to hit up this museum between conferences on Thursday. My kids didn't have school on Thursday because of conferences, then they had Valentines day off, and President's Day off too. Plus Wednesdays are early release for us, so they had 5.5 days off in a row! Wahoo!

First we went to Lucas's conference. He is going up the curve just like he is supposed to, he marked high on everything, and we left feeling great about his academics and teacher. She knows just how to push him, and I like that. We talked to another mom whose son has been with Lucas since Kinder and we agreed how nice it is to have these two smart boys push each other to the max. They are constantly trying to out do each other in the times tables. :)

After Lucas's conference, we went to the museum. I wanted to go in February because they were having a VW exhibit. Since those are my initials, I think VW's are pretty awesome!

Lots to look at and read!

The Thing is my all time favorite Volkswagen Vehicle.

^our next camper^
CUTE!

We learned a lot. And it was a pretty neat place!

After the Museum we rushed back for Bridget's conference. She is of course, Miss Popular. Her conference was very different than Lucas's. She is doing great academically, but, she doesn't ever, I mean--ever, do more than she is asked. She loves that she has friends, and that school, for the most part, comes easy to her but she doesn't want to do more. One thing Bridget is great at, is story telling. She enjoys writing and creating so much. No wonder Art is her favorite class. Her teacher gave her things to work on, and she just smiled and said, "yea, I know." and that was pretty much it. No stress, no real care about being the best (like her brother) I am not worried about her, neither is her teacher. Bridget will just be one of those kids who just gets it the first time and then moves on with her life. hahaha.

After conferences we ran to Costco, and hurried home to finish part 1 of 3 of another fun renovation. My poor husband. There is always something to do at our house. LOL

100 days and Cheerleading

Bridget decided it was time to be a cheerleader, so she went to "camp" and then had 2 performances.

She loved every minute of it, and hopes to do more next year!

Bridget thought those High School boys were cute...see her face (below)

After her performances it was the 100th Day of School.
Lucas's class didn't need my help, so I spent the day with Bridget.

When I was done with my station I looked over and my daughter and realized how big she is getting...

It was a great week for Bridgey Goose.

9 years of wedded...

bliss?

I wouldn't say bliss, but we are pretty close.

I never imagined loving someone as much as I love Nathan.
I mean, there is just something about him that reels me back to him, I will never understand it.
I never thought someone would love me as much as he loves me.
This guy is CRAZY for me. Hahaha.

He isn't just my husband either, he stresses to me all of the time that we are partners.
If I am in trouble or need help with something, he insists that I ask him first.
(this is probably why people get annoyed that I don't ask for help)

We had a great anniversary actually. My mother in law took the kids from 3pm on and we were able to just hang out and be together in the City where it was -5.

I picked out my new refrigerator, we did a little shopping, and then went out to a really nice dinner.
It was SOOO cold!

One of our favorite things we ordered. We went to Rioja. It was fabulous.
The server told me I was great at ordering, since I picked her top 7 favorites.
We got a free dessert and the entire staff signed a Happy Anniversary card to us.
It was so cool.

Here we are, freezing our tooshies off, last night.

And now, a funny.
9 years ago, I told Nathan that if he got cake on my face during the cake cutting I would be mad at him forever. He didn't listen to me and as a result, all of these "symbolic" pictures of the cake cutting I look pissed. Like fuming mad. Thinking about it today, still makes me so mad.

Years later, I can not laugh at it, because I was so specific about NOT doing it.
Nathan still chuckles about how mad I was, and how Sabrina Spencer came up to him after and said she hopes he survives my wrath. HAHAAHAHA.

Coming home at 8 to our kids was a nice end to the night.
To think that, together, we helped create these 5 awesome little people brings a little tear to my eye.

LOL I love this clip so much!
