12. Rollerskating

The kids have been asking to go skating for a while and it worked out to go today!

I was worried about Juliet, since she is only 2, but she surprised me!

They actually went to a class that taught them how to skate.
Juliet sat with the rest of them with no problems.

She was a natural.

Mason just ran around the entire time. He wanted to skate and dance too, but he was too little.

Lucky for him, I brought graham crackers. If you know him, then you know the face.

Scarlett also surprised me. She usually complains about everything, but she had the best time of the older 3.

They had snacks and games, and of course, Scarlett made friends with everyone. Bridget did as well, but she wanted to skate fast and was more focused on the technique.

Then they turned off the lights, and did disco dancing. Juliet skated her little butt onto the rink to join in.

The kids had a blast, and asked to go again. This reminds me of all the times I went to skate city as a girl scout, and how I got roller blades for Christmas one year, and when me and my sister went out the next day (california) to show them off, everyone on my street had received them too! It was like the parents were in cahoots. Haha.  Next time, I will get a sitter for Mason and join in on the fun. I love roller skating!

After Skating, it was 99 degrees out so I took the kids out to lunch. I hate doing fast food, but it was too hot to sit in the car any longer. While we were inside, 2 city workers came over to tell us how well behaved our kiddos were. They treated them to frosties! See kids, good behavior does pay off!

10 Camp with Cousins, 11 Bike Ride with Cousins

Ryan and Veronica hosted our first ever cousin backyard camp out I brought dinner and dessert, and they did breakfast. On our way there, we got into a car accident. (we are okay but it made us late)

The kids were SO excited. It was so much fun!

For dinner I brought Walking Tacos.
No dishes!

Then we went to a park we are all familiar with...

One thing I actually like about Arvada...the trees!
Look at little Mason!

Nathan took the kids on a bike ride because Noah just learned how to ride a two wheeler.
Except, he didn't want to ride it at the park. (go figure)

Ryan brought his Roller Blades, and Veronica and I chatted with the little ones.

Then we came back, dressed in jammies, and had dessert. I made Muddy Buddies and Sunny Buddies.

We played out back and chatted all night.

Look! A rainbow!

The sky turned orange. It was still 8pm.

We went to bed at 9pm, and woke up to the power being out.

We played more, (in the dark) and then cleaned up and headed out.

It was fun, Lucas and Noah had a great time!

I am grateful that our kids are close and enjoy each other. I used to wish that my cousins were closer and that we had a relationship like my kids have with theirs.  My youngest cousin by the way is only 2 years older than Lucas. WEIRD!

Family Photos

Back in April when Chris got home from his mission we had pictures taken of the Witte Family.

Here is the "original" Witte Family.

In order, Nathan 35, Jared 34, Ryan 32, Elizabeth 30, Gary, Cindy, Benjamin 28, Christopher 21, Spencer 20, Alexander 17.

Even though everyone lives "close" (the furthest being Arizona and Utah), we don't see each other very often, but when they get together it is like no time has passed.

Here are all of the Witte Women.

The three on the right are all having babies this year! They had to make up for lost time since Veronica and I had a kid every year for the past 6 years. Veronica jokes that when she had 1 kid I would have 2. That is sort of true. Sometimes, it feels true. Haha.

Here is everyone.

Here are the grandkids. 8 so far, 4 girls - 4 boys.
In August it will be 6 girls and we will find out what Danielle is having then too!

Katie took pics of each family too. Here is our family.

It was a quick photo shoot, the pictures turned out great. Waaaaay better than 2 years ago...

I am glad we took pictures, and have current pictures of the Witte family.
This year was more natural and laid back, and I think the result was better.

Until next time - approximately 1.5 years till Alex leaves, and maybe 3 years from now when he gets back.

All these pictures make me want to take pics with the Horn's and Theodosiadis's. Maybe after baby Theodore is born. What? Didn't I mention MY sister is having a baby too? Well, she is, and that make 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and an unknown baby coming in 2013! Woo Hoo!

I love when people are having babies and I am not one of them! Haha.
