Earned Every Penny

Nathan  and I were against buying a family trampoline.  We knew a lot of people who had one and if the kids wanted to "jump" we would invite ourselves over to someone's to play.  Lucas has asked for a trampoline every single year since he was 3. Bridget has started asking as well. A few weeks ago we went to my friend Desi's house to play and they had an 8 foot trampoline that was only 2 feet high. We noticed something. The babies were playing on it too! Easy on, easy off.

After we came home we decided that if they really wanted one, they would have to earn it.  I made a chart that had nickel, dime, and quarter chores on it. Each day they would have several "opportunities" to earn their way to a trampoline. The cost was $100 and I figured it would take them 6 weeks to earn.  I also would surprise them with DOLLAR days where each chore would equal a dollar.  Well, they worked SO hard and earned their trampoline in 3.5 weeks!
some days were better than others. Haha.

So, we took down the club house, and built the trampoline. It doesn't take up too much space and is the perfect height for my mini's.

We let the littles try it out first. We figured it would hurt them less if it came apart. Haha.

Then we took them off to build the net.

Mason was not happy about it. So, we let them have another turn.

Scarlett loved her time with the boxes.

See,perfect height for Maceroni and Cheese.

Scarlett found these cardboard pole holders and turned them into shoes.

Silly girl!

A synchro pose for Stephanie.

The best part of this mini trampoline...only 2 kids at a time!
Poor JuJu

They love it, and promise to follow the rules, and have decided to save up for a swing set next.
It is amazing what you can put your mind to when you all have a common goal.
They never complained to do extra chores because they knew if they didn't do them, they wouldn't earn money. Some days they would only earn .45 cents. It was a great learning tool and a good first choice for a family reward.

Because of the Mills Family, we had to eat dinner outside on the trampoline.

Of course, today that trampoline is buried in snow. Gotta love Colorado.

  1. We don't usually allow that.you're the special exception. Haha unless it's popsicles in the summer, in which case we turn a sprinkler on underneath and the sticky gets washed off pretty quick.lol!
