Snowy Day

First, let me get this off my chest...

Our house is SICK free!!!!

Poor Lucas had pneumonia Wednesday last week, missed Valentines Day in his class, we missed Witte Family Cabin Weekend, still sick on Monday and then got pink eye that night, so he missed Tuesday as well.

The rest of the kids had a sucky lingering cough but nothing newsworthy so I let them ride it out. Other things...we got a few new appliances, played with the boxes for too many days, and ate our combined weight in soup, hot chocolate, and gatorade. We also grabbed a basket.

Eggplant AND Purple Carrots! YES!

After finishing up the week, we are finally ready to all attend church today, and we look outside.
We had heard Blizzard Warnings all night and prepared to be home most of the day.
The National Weather Service said not to travel unless it was an emergency, so we didn't.

They cancelled church for many stakes around us, but we still had no word come 8:30.
Then we received several texts that said Sacrament only (probably because a lot of people were already on their way, or because some were already there) the texts also said come at your comfort level, Bishop will probably send everyone home after Sacrament. By this time the 2 wards after us already cancelled, but not my ward.  We decided to not bundle everyone up for the hour and stay home.

The kids were so good. We did our Sunday Centers, watched a movie, and then after nap, Nathan got a wild hair. He thought since the kids missed sledding with their cousins (at the cabin), and there was nothing left to do, we should take the kids sledding. It was still snowing, and the neighborhood wasn't even plowed yet, but the kids were finally well enough to go sledding. And! He was home during the day to take them!

The best part? No one was there!

PS there are over 30 pictures, so, beware.
I am making up for lost time. :)

The snow was pretty fluffy.

This is the first time Juliet has been in her snow gear. She just kept saying "(s)now!, (s)now!" she doesn't say S yet, when its at the beginning of a word. Kind of like Scarlett used to when she was two.

Mason in snow gear for the first time. He is wearing boots, but Cody's snowsuit is a little big. :)

The older kiddos were dying to get out there. I thought I was going to have to talk to them about carrying their own stuff back up, but actually, I didn't have a problem.

Juliet actually did have a decent time, she was cold, and refused to wear gloves. To me, that is how you learn, so I let her not wear them.  I love this picture below...

Snowing and cold, but super fun.
Lucas had snowflakes glued to his long lashes!

Scarlett surprised me, she carried her sled up each time, and managed to wiggle her booty enough to not need a push. She was complaining about her left arm being weird, but she was already buckled in and I meant to check it, but then I noticed this...

Her under jacket was not zipped in right so it was hanging out the back. Only one arm was covered with the double jacket inside. Oops!

The snow on this hill was pretty deep, but they didn't care. They were too busy going up and down and laughing and trying new ways to sled.

Scarlett always brought up Juliet. Juliet was a lazy bum and just sat there.

If I had to guess, Scarlett had the best time.

Or Lucas, who always seem to hit a bump. Oops, I mean a "jump."

Or was it Bridget who had the best time?

Nope, it was Nathan...

It was not Juliet...

After freezing our tooshies off in the snow we came home for some hot chocolate and popcorn.
Nathan and Lucas finished shoveling the neighbors driveways and sidewalks, and we let Mason try out the snow.

I don't know about this stuff...

He hates the boots, he hates all shoes really. But here, he was mad at having to go inside.

Lucas shoveled on.

He is getting too big.

It was fun, the kids crashed early and left me this to take care of...

Joy!

  1. Favorite picture: Close-up of Scarlett.

I'm loving Juliet. What a cutie-pie. Quin does that - won't wear gloves. Or pants. Or a coat, sometimes. He insists on wearing shorts. He'll come in for gloves, and he's learning about the warmy goodness of coats. ahaha But, he'll still take them off in the car, because he hates the bulk. I agree.

Glad you updated - I've been going through withdrawal. hahaha

  2. Fun sledding time! Glad Lucas is feeling better. Boyd missed his V-day party too because he had a worse than awful ear infection. But all is well now.
