Labor Day!

We woke the kids up early, gave them a small breakfast and then started our adventure.

We have been working all weekend on decluttering, deep cleaning, and really getting the house in order so we could enjoy Labor Day together.

We decided to try a new food. Because last year it was the Yellow Watermelons, and remember that surprise trip to Fort Collins? Oh! And our day of Snacks in 2008!

The food of the day was Dim Sum!

According to our Asian neighbors, 5280 magazine, and Denver.org's website,
Star Kitchen is THE BEST Dim Sum in town, so off we went to Downtown City for Brunch.

We were the only non-asian's there, and seeing that many red heads in one place seemed to shock people, you know...it could have been the five kid thing, who cares. It was delicious!

Juliet out ate all of the kids. She LOVES Asian cuisine!

They had a Lobster and Crab tank. So Nathan took the kids over to check it out.

The servers walk around with carts full of food. We weren't going to get the calamari, but once Bridget saw it, we had to get it!  That's right! We love sea food!

Mason especially...

Seriously, he screamed when it was time to go!

We ate well, and made it before the lunch crowd.
Then we went over to the Wizard's Chest.

2 floors of magical fun!
They had a magic show and I was able to pick up a few items for Christmas when the kids weren't looking.

Upstairs was a costume shop. Scarlett can totally rock pink hair, don't you think?

I think she looks great with the length too! :)

We had so much fun there and then went over to Penzey's Spice Shop!

While I was slowly spending a small fortune, the kids happily colored.

Then the kids got to sniffing.

I bought a ton of stuff (for fall baking) and can't wait to go back!

On the way out, back to the car, the kids saw this sculpture.

To which Lucas shouts "Look! Half Man, Half Eagle!"
Then Bridget shouts "And Half Parachute!"

Everyone at Starbucks was laughing, including Nathan and I.

We won't go into Lucas explaining fractions to Bridget in the car.
Sometimes the boy is just to literal. :D

I love these kids.

On the way out we saw a grape stand. Guess why I bought some...

And they tasted like candy. Like Crunchy cold candy! SO GOOD!
And I am a grape snob. My first email address EVER was GrapeVal. No Joke!

We had leftovers for dinner and Nathan created the best Steak and Potato Omelettes I have ever had.
The kids had Steak Nachos, and for dessert we had Sundaes...on a Monday! Hahaha.

The day was full of excitement, a little too much for Mason.

Oh man.

I love days like these.
We worked so hard to get the house in order so we could enjoy our Labor-Free day.

Now for tomorrow...Doctor appts, shots, and grapes! Mmmm.

  1. You know what's sad, and probably a little funny? (But mostly just sad...) I totally didn't get the fraction thing until you said Lucas was explaining them in the car. <<<< That's the sound of that one flying right over my head! hahahahaha!!! Ahem. Anyway. ;)
