Color ME Rad!

One thing I love about being married, is that I married the perfect guy for me.
Instead of things being 50/50, they are always 100/100.
We are a great pair/team.

We are usually right on track when it comes to planning fun dates.
Since April, I have been looking for a 5K companion.
It is really hard to find someone who you can run with, and be at the same pace and enjoy their company, and who has time to actually set aside for non family things.  I have several friends I would love to do this with but timing and money, and other factors ALWAYS get in the way.
Until Nathan suggested that we just do it together.
Duh!

So we woke the kids up at 6:30 dropped them of at Grandma and Grandpa's and headed to the 5K.
This particular one was the Color Me Rad, you basically run the race while color bombs are thrown at you.

Gluten Free Running!
Hahaha.

It was freezing, so we were hanging in the sun.
They gave us glasses, a t-shirt, and some bombs for later.

We were in the first wave.
There were some serious runners in this group.
This was our first time, so we decided to play it by ear.

We stopped to take a picture. This was about 1/2 way through. See runners behind me and Nathan? Yea, there were a TON of people there! It was so fun to meet people and be silly. A GREAT idea for a date!

At the end there is a bomb-splosion.

This was so much fun!

Here is Nathan at the end...

There were liquid sprayers too!
That is what really got us good!

Here I am 67 pounds lighter than I was in January!!!!
(patting back)

Everyone was friendly and willing to take each others pictures.

I wasn't sore, or tired, and we made a great time considering there were so many kids and slow walkers out there.  It was a great time together and we have already started looking at other races!

Here is what it looked like on the way out.

We decided to take advantage of having no kids and went out for a healthy lunch at Panera.

Dang it! He caught me mid bite!

We picked up the kids, and Lucas was literally speechless. It was hilarious. Nathan was asking the girls if he had anything in his teeth, and they were wide mouthed like, "what happened?!?!"
People were staring at us on the highway, we felt like we were in a secret club. Haha.

I even ran into Walmart. Of course, I didn't run into anyone.
If I were in pajamas(which I would never do), or if my fly were down, I would have seen EVERYONE and their mom there. Oh well.

When we got home we noticed something...

That stuff sticks!

It was a fun date and I feel incredible. Not sore or anything!

I feel like the luckiest gal in the land.
What a high right after the race!
What a great partner!

Thanks to Grandpa Witte for taking on all 5 of my babies.
It was so fun to actually go out BEFORE dinner!

  1. So fun...I have suggested Aaron run with me and do a 5K. It's a no go! Besides the fact that he has really bad knees and running doesn't help that he acts like I am asking him to kill himself!:) But he will support me and cheer me on and make it possible for me to run with others. So it is all good. Glad you had a great time! Here in Portland they had the color run that I was sad I missed. (I haven't really been able to run since my 1/2 marathon). Such fun!
