Color ME Rad!

One thing I love about being married, is that I married the perfect guy for me.
Instead of things being 50/50, they are always 100/100.
We are a great pair/team.

We are usually right on track when it comes to planning fun dates.
Since April, I have been looking for a 5K companion.
It is really hard to find someone who you can run with, and be at the same pace and enjoy their company, and who has time to actually set aside for non family things.  I have several friends I would love to do this with but timing and money, and other factors ALWAYS get in the way.
Until Nathan suggested that we just do it together.
Duh!

So we woke the kids up at 6:30 dropped them of at Grandma and Grandpa's and headed to the 5K.
This particular one was the Color Me Rad, you basically run the race while color bombs are thrown at you.

Gluten Free Running!
Hahaha.

It was freezing, so we were hanging in the sun.
They gave us glasses, a t-shirt, and some bombs for later.

We were in the first wave.
There were some serious runners in this group.
This was our first time, so we decided to play it by ear.

We stopped to take a picture. This was about 1/2 way through. See runners behind me and Nathan? Yea, there were a TON of people there! It was so fun to meet people and be silly. A GREAT idea for a date!

At the end there is a bomb-splosion.

This was so much fun!

Here is Nathan at the end...

There were liquid sprayers too!
That is what really got us good!

Here I am 67 pounds lighter than I was in January!!!!
(patting back)

Everyone was friendly and willing to take each others pictures.

I wasn't sore, or tired, and we made a great time considering there were so many kids and slow walkers out there.  It was a great time together and we have already started looking at other races!

Here is what it looked like on the way out.

We decided to take advantage of having no kids and went out for a healthy lunch at Panera.

Dang it! He caught me mid bite!

We picked up the kids, and Lucas was literally speechless. It was hilarious. Nathan was asking the girls if he had anything in his teeth, and they were wide mouthed like, "what happened?!?!"
People were staring at us on the highway, we felt like we were in a secret club. Haha.

I even ran into Walmart. Of course, I didn't run into anyone.
If I were in pajamas(which I would never do), or if my fly were down, I would have seen EVERYONE and their mom there. Oh well.

When we got home we noticed something...

That stuff sticks!

It was a fun date and I feel incredible. Not sore or anything!

I feel like the luckiest gal in the land.
What a high right after the race!
What a great partner!

Thanks to Grandpa Witte for taking on all 5 of my babies.
It was so fun to actually go out BEFORE dinner!

When Nature Calls...

Bridget is such a character.

She has the ability to shine/stand out in any photo, even if she ISN'T the main subject.

Here is an example:

This my friends is where it all started.
Bridget told me she needed to go potty and I told her we could go after the tires.
After the tires she decided she didn't need to go.

I walk over to Becky and here is what she is doing...

I was about 50 feet away from her and she was totally doing this while waiting for her turn in various events.

In her defense, it was cold and there were a lot of people and she didn't want to miss a thing.
But, then she started dancing. I mean really dancing to hold it in.

It was like she couldn't focus on anything else.

and finally, FINALLY, the hurdles were over and she was ready to go.
Let me just tell you...I swear I could hear a sigh of relief from her stall as she was going.
HAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh Goose, I love you!
It totally brings back memories of the time she tried to go like a boy:
HERE and that link will PROVE that Juliet and Bridget look so much alike!
Whew! Flashback!

Family Fun(d) Night

Our school doesn't "sell" stuff. They have fundraisers, but there is nothing to buy.

Lucas's school has field day in September and the kids get sponsored for each event
and that is the fun(d) raiser.

Lucas raised $30 from family and friends.
Our whole family was able to participate.

It was a great Wednesday evening activity.
This was the second attempt this year because of the rain.
It looked cloudy and we lucked out, but it was FREEZING.

This year there was a food truck!

Extra bonus -  it was in an Air Stream! (extra points since Danielle(SIL) designs the interiors)

We were there early (no surprise) and so we tossed the kids around and let them play for a while.
Which means more air time for Maceroni and Cheese. Hehehe.

Mrs. Hearnen spotted Lucas and gave him a big hug. She helped him get his ribbon on.

Robert and Lucas. They are so adorable.

While the police were doing their demo, I snagged dinner. Juliet enjoying Grilled Cheese.

Mason was FREEZING.

I LOOOOOVE this PICTURE. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Scarlett had a few turns and was done. She was so cold.

So, Nathan, my awesome husband and father to my children took the babies home...

But my older 2 plowed on.

And then it was time for the 3 legged race.  I couldn't pick just one to show you so here are a few...

This was their first time doing this and true to Witte form, they were over confident.
So they fell.

A teacher helped them up and then they figured it out, real quick.

But they were tangled.
So she fixed them and on they went.

Not quite first, but happy they finished!

These kids are so cute. I need to save this picture for when they are fighting. *wink*

After the race we went to the tire roll and then on to the ball jump.

We love Mrs. King!

Then the gunny sack race!

I should have video'd this. Lucas's laughter was awesome.

Bridget pooped out so Mrs. Lockwood helped her get back. :)

Then on to hurdles.

They had built this contraption and Lucas soaked this poor poor teacher on the first try.

Every event earned a sticker. They did each event several times. The kids had a blast.

Bridget is eating something in this picture.
what a ham.

This event had a great turn out and we saw many ward members and neighbors.
I love that community aspect of the school.
