Splashing with New Friends!

My friend Mellisa (Spittle) and I have been trying to get together for awhile. We always run into each other at Target, Michael's, the Airport - yes! the airport!, the zoo, the grocery store, etc. So, we set up a time for our cute kids to play together.

She picked the place for us to go and it is close to our house!
It was about 10 minutes away and SO COOL!

 Lucas and Landyn, age 6
cute Jake. :)

It was perfect for the kids because everyone had a friend.
In order it goes, Lucas, Landyn, Bridget, Maxx, Scarlett, Jake, Juliet and Mason.

Lucas especially loved playing with a BOY his own age.
They had a great time, and there was plenty of shade for eating and chatting.

We have to get together again soon!

I came home and my new camera had arrived! SCORE!
I also promised my eldest daughter she could get a hair cut before school started, so, we met Nathan there and he took the other kids. Bridget was so patient.

and after 6 inches, she became the Bridget I love. :)
 Sassy Pants!
Haha.

I wish I could pull off the headband.
I have made so many for me, but some 4 year old took them all.
Which is good, because flowers and cute things for the hair are for children.
Only a select few adults can pull that look off, and I have yet to meet one in real life.
Rant over.

It was a fun day that ended in Lollipops and Olympics.
Go USA!
I have had them on non stop since the beginning! I can't help it!

Let the rain fall down!

Yesterday at about 2:20pm I told the kids to listen to the thunder storm, it was so loud it woke up the babies. I told them we would sit outside and watch it, when Nathan surprised us all by coming home early!
I seriously didn't even know! :)

As soon as he pulled up, the skies opened up and just dumped.
I told the kids to go have fun in the rain, and they were SO excited!

Juliet was laughing and happy to be with the bigger kids.
They were running and having a grand old time. The gutters were filled to their ankles!
Then, after about 25 minutes - it stopped!

The kids were sad it was over, but what a fun experience. :)
Mason was happy we came inside...
he was ready for dinner.
And he has become quite the carbaholic lately. LOL

At bedtime Scarlett asked if runnin in the rain could be on our summer list next year. Haha.
Sorry about the sucky pics, they were on my broken camera...My new one should be here any day!

Flashback Friday: May 2012

I was sorting things from the old laptop to my new one.
I totally fried the old one, and lucky for me, I married a computer genius. (he made me say that) haha.
I was moving May over to the archives and forgot to post this gem!

In Kindergarten, on their graduation, they joined with Mrs. States class.
They were all singing some pretty funny songs.
During a heartfelt talk from Mrs. Kelso and Mrs. States they decided to ask the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up.  Now, I am sure you will not be surprised what Lucas says he wants to be, but really listen to it because Lucas and Robert are the only kids who picked a job and something else...
The kid after Lucas said he wanted to be an Alien! The kid after said a zombie. Hahaha.

Lucas said he wanted to be a Fireman, a Cop, and a Dad.
awww.

Ever since Lucas was about 6 months old, he has been fascinated with Firetrucks.
When he was 1, he could tell you what kind of firetruck he liked, and what sort of jobs firemen do.
At 2, Lucas learned that you had to do an obstacle course and train to be a fireman.
He would try and make these courses at home. So silly.
At 3, he had the ultimate Fireman Birthday Party
After that party all he could talk about was firetrucks and firemen, etc.
Our neighbor across the street humors Lucas when he asks him questions - because he is a real fireman!
Even to this day, Lucas could talk your ear off about fire safety, or anything related to fire. :)

I love this kid, and that he truly loves the idea of serving others as a future career.
For the record: Nathan's job looks too boring for Lucas. Hahahaha.

Little Men

Today was the day I started our Back to School regime.

First, we emptied Lucas's closet.
Vacuumed it.
Then, he tried everything, I mean everything, on.
We put all the 5's and 6's away - because they are too small.
When I say too small, I mean - mid forearm and upper ankle.

Then we went through the drawers.
I can't believe even his underwear was too small!
So, we tossed the undies, resorted the socks and called it done.

After the clothes were sorted, we moved on to his room arrangement.
We changed the sheets, flipped the mattress, moved the bed to the other side of the room and vacuumed.
We steamed the carpets, dusted and washed the baseboards, and called it done.

D O N E.

I made a list of what we needed to buy for the up coming school year.

All while listening to music from my teenage years, and dancing in the hall way.
Mason loved us all being together and being loud.
The kids were all working together and we had breakfast for lunch as a treat. :)
Mason has been rolling to where he needs to be. It is sooooo cute.
He squeals and laughs and then stops and waves his arms like "come get me!"

How can you not?

Especially when this happens...
My boys are growing up. Lucas is in a solid size 7 and Mason is in 6-9, 6-12 months.
I am extremely happy about this, for a while there I was worried that Mason was never going to get out of 0-3 month clothes. He is so close to crawling!  Lucas amazes me every day with all that he is learning, and I feel proud that most of it is on his own!

I love that my kids are happy (for the most part) to work together for a common goal. In today's case, it was to earn ice cream sundaes for getting Lucas's room, and clothes completed.  Tomorrow I get to do it all again (for the girls) oh joy. I think the reward will be something without sugar, as I can still hear them giggling upstairs. hehehe.

There is something about getting things checked off the list, putting things away, getting rid of old and broken toys, and deep cleaning a room. I feel so accomplished. I really shouldn't though, there are at least 7 more "rooms" to go! *yikes*

Summer Awesome

We are plugging away at our summer list, we have about 21 items left.
Out of 60.

Today was Jumping Jordy's day.
I bought a groupon in March for $27 that was a 10 punch pass, usually $65.
I was going to use it with some friends who just moved here, but I never got around to asking them. Oops.
Today we used it and the kids had a blast.
They didn't count Juliet or Mason, so we have at least 2 more visits and it doesn't expire!

My kids have no fear, so this place was perfect for them!

Mason was in the baby area, working on his smolder.
He managed to get a 2 year old's number with this pose! LOL Just Kidding!
Juliet was like this most of the time:

This place was massive...can you see Lucas?

 Mason!
What?

After our 3 hours of play, we went to lunch.
 Burger King!
You know it was good when you bring ketchup and mustard home with you...on your face!

We came home, and I mowed for Nathan and then let the kids run in the sprinklers!

Its not summer unless you are soaking and covered in grass!

There is something about the smell of fresh cut grass...
anyway I was looking through the blog and found:

Here is a funny time in 2010, you should click on it! The babies are so chubby and cute!
Here is another funny time in 2010, I love looking at old posts. *sniff*

One more of someone who LOVED the sprinklers...

The kids came in, stripped down, and read books together until Nathan got home.
I love summer time!

Just Because

We had a difficult day at church. It was interesting because we never sit in the middle. I try to always pick a side bench, because it is easier to contain the hoodlums.
Lucas asked me, once we were seated on the side bench, "why don't we ever sit in the middle?"
Knowing the answer, I still decided to oblige him and move to the middle rows.

We did pretty good, until Juliet ( almost 18 months ) started realizing she had more "room" and tried to escape. Then Mason needed to eat. Then Scarlett had to go potty. Then Lucas went to throw something away and walked right past us, and was just being too silly. When Nathan talked to him about it, Lucas lost it, and started crying. So, he took Juliet and Lucas out and then Mason hit the wood on the bench so he was crying. Bridget for the life of her could not sit forward facing. 5 minutes to the end Lucas looks at me and says "oh, this is why we never sit in the middle" *DING*DING*DING* YOU GOT IT!

I had prepared a really awesome lesson for my class, and one kid, one! showed up.
So I told her we should go crash the older girls class and she seemed excited. I walk out of that class and the primary president said we had 4 teachers not show up today, and I needed to teach the 8 year old boys.

I had these particular boys when they were 4 - and they were much MUCH better for me back then.
Today, that whole class was terrible. I was embarrassed for their teachers.

After class, I go in to help Nursery and to trade Mason for Juliet (with Nathan) and help and stay.
Juliet loves nursery, so luckily that will be an easy transition for her.

On the way home, we discover that our lovely children had some how in the past week, destroyed the basement. They were talking about it and it was revealed that they were in the boxes of stuff
(because the basement is under construction) were all torn apart. Immediately, Nathan and I go down there, and it is, in fact, a wreck. So instead of family time of fun, they got to spend family time a cleanin!

While they were down there, I decided to just make cupcakes.
Just Because.

We had meatball subs for dinner and then while we were having our usual Sunday talks, we decided to go on a family walk. The kids were already in their jammies, but who cares?
There is a huge construction project by my house. They are building a bridge to connect the 2 neighborhoods and to go under Holly so the middle schoolers don't have to cross the street. It is almost done. We were going to check that out, but the grass was too tall.
Scarlett likes the grass short. :)
Each kid took a turn pushing the stroller, I noticed how defined Bridget has become...
This girl is all muscle!

Since the park was just right there, we let the kids play.

Mason tried the swings. Going back was fine, but coming forward, FREAKED him out.
He would tense and get scared. Lucas tried to make him laugh...
That video wasn't great, but you get the idea.
He was ready to go home, so we did.

It was like 7:45 and the kids found the drainage tunnel and Lucas said
"hey! I see a ladder in there! do you think ninja turtles are real?"
Nathan and I chuckled.
Someone's sprinklers were on and the puppy dog faces were on, so we let them run in the sprinklers.
 Mason flew!
The clouds were coming in so we ran home!

The kids washed up and I told them we had cupcakes were for dessert!
And as a suprise, I "sprinkled" them with pop rocks.
AAAAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Totally made the day better! TOTALLY.
We had no complaints:

Sometimes I get frustrated when the kids misbehave, but really, they are just being kids.
I know I wasn't ALWAYS perfect for my parents...right Dad?
hehehe.

It is my job as a mom to realize these things, and let them go.
The time with them "little" is so short.
Ya, know?
