He Did It!

Lucas's school started a summer reading program this year. Each grade has different requirements, and the prize is you get to attend a sleepover at the school in September.

We did both library reading programs, and the Barnes and Noble reading program too.

Anyway, back to the school reading program.
1st Graders are supposed to read and or listen to 25 books,
do 6 book reports, one of which is supposed to be non-fiction.

I mentioned to Nathan that it would be awesome if Lucas could read 100 books this summer, and guess what? He did! Lucas was so excited to beat the 1st grade requirement!
11 of them were chapter books. He earned $3 per chapter book (our thing) and he did 20 book reports for fiction, and 10 for non-fiction. He also did write ups for our science experiments that corresponded with the non-fiction books.

To celebrate we had ice cream sundaes for dinner!
 You think You get some?
- insert evil laugh -
(except when I think of evil laugh and Mason, I think of the Emporer's New Groove)
No seriously! I am not sharing!
Wait! There are gummy bears? Hahaha

The kids each picked a topping and then it was time to assemble and devour.

Nathan and I had ours with chocolate peanut butter granola!

Lucas was sooooo excited. He said it was hard sometimes because he didn't like the books we picked at the library (my fault) but he did it! He can't wait to show the principal and his 1st grade teacher all that he has worked on. :) He is also VERY excited to spend his $33 this weekend at Toys R Us.

I am so proud of Lucas for sticking with it and killing the 1st grade requirements!
Woo Hoo!
