Spring Break Day2

How we decided what to do today.  Last week before Auntie Liz came I cut 5 rectangles in different colors.  They were large sized.  On one side I wrote something different on each one:

Outside, Fun, Educational, Cooking, New

Then on the other side we decided what we would do for each one. I gave them several ideas to choose from for each day. Then we wrote what we were doing each day and then the kids put them in the order that we would do them in.

Yesterday was Outside: Bike Riding and Popsicle Eating.
Today was Educational: Wildlife Experience Museum

We went to the Wildlife Museum in 2008 its weird that I was pregnant with Scarlett then.
This time was WAAAY better than the last time!

First we hit the bathrooms because the Wildlife Experience Museum is in PARKER.
Then we went to the Toddler Room.
Scarlett did not want to leave this room.  She built a dam, did some puzzles, dressed up as animals and loved everything about this room.  We spent a good 1/2 hour in here.
The other two put on an adorable puppet show.
Juliet was unimpressed. Haha.
One thing I loved about this room is that they had a wall full of drawers.
and this was what was inside...
I had fun exploring these and getting a lot of ideas for home.

After that room we hit up the main reason we went.
The frog exhibit.  We have been talking a lot about life cycles (thanks Butterfly Pavilion) so I was glad that they picked this particular museum because I KNEW about this exhibit.
Lucas could read most of the signs.  He was so proud of himself.
This museum had these checklists and questions so the whole exhibit was more interactive.
There were a lot of live frogs there.
Of course everyone loved these frogs...they were hopping everywhere and you could hear them through the glass.  I was surprised how much the girls were into this!

This room took us 45 minutes to get through. I always seem to pick the best days to go to these places because there were hardly any people there and we could walk freely and take our time.  This room also had a craft to do and experts to tell us cool facts.  This kids didn't want to touch any frogs - which is good because right when we walked away one totally poo'ed all over the tray! GROSS!

The next exhibit we went into was my FAVORITE.
It was the 3D Globeology Tour.
The kids got scavenger hunt maps and 3D glasses before walking into this room.

They had different biomes and each one had cool things in it to oogle over.
Some of them had these stations in it where you match the food to the animal.
Each one had a 3D TV in it with animals on screen so you could sense them there. It was Awesome.  The kids LOVED this part.  I made a chart for the kids and gave them out before entering globeology. I had 1 question for each biome and if you got the answer right you got a sticker.
At the end 10 stickers merited a prize... we will get to that later.
I mean wow!
One of my most favorite things about this globeology exhibit.
There were mechanical "specialists" in the exhibits.  Bridget is touching the screen to ask him questions.  He not only answered the questions but they were all lifelike!
More hands on fun.
I loved these huge animals in the Savannah.
Scarlett - Not So Much.
Each exhibit had different spots where you could call on your cell specific numbers to hear the actual sounds. It was really cool.
More Mechanical "specialists"
Coral Reef = Dory and Nemo!
Now after they collected their 10 stickers the kids got to pick a toy from the gift shop since we had 20% off coupons.  The kids each picked a stuffed frog. Except Scarlett - she picked a frog pen. :)

After a good hour in this exhibit we went to Discovery Den for some fun, climbing and art projects.
The kids did 3 each.
It was a fun 2.5 hours of learning. We looked at the artwork exhibit too but you can't take pictures in there.
The kids were so good we went to Carl's Jr. for lunch.
We NEVER eat out (fast food) so this was exciting for them.
The entire drive home the kids were telling me their favorite parts and how they couldn't wait to tell Nathan all about it.  Lucas wants to get books at the library about frogs so I think we will do that tomorrow afternoon.

When we got home and took naps I had a special snack for the kids...
Gummi Frogs!
They thought it was pretty awesome!
