100 Days!

The clouds opened, the birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and it just happened to be 100 days of Kindergarten! (yesterday) Finally the day came.
Lucas and his class were just BURSTING at the seams to get to this blessed day!

I came in to help (by myself) the class and it was so much fun.

I have to say that Lucas's teacher, Mrs. Kelso, is the bomb!
The kids were listening to the morning announcements and made some moaning sound because their name wasn't called and she (in her best stern princess voice) told them it was rude and inconsiderate to not be happy for their classmates. She basically lectured them about proper behavior and they didn't even know they were in trouble. It was awesome!

Everyone got to bring 100 items to school. Lucas picked Jellybeans, thinking if he put 100 jellybeans in a snack sized bag it would trick them into thinking that there weren't 100 in there. He is so funny.

She went over their centers for the day and then off they went.

Something funny about Mrs. Kelso is that her day is broken up into morning and afternoon...even though they are the morning class. Before specials is Morning, and after specials is Afternoon.

Zero the Hero made an appearance, I didn't whip out my camera for that, but, he was hilarious.
Costume and all. The kids sang his song and cheered for him, it was nice to see all 16 kids so into 100 day.

They had 10 centers all having to do with 100. At the end of the day she explained to them that they had counted to 100, 10x and that was 1000! Their faces were CLASSIC.

Some centers were 100 loop necklaces. That was counting by 10.

Making 100 day trailmix. Again, counting by 10.

100 day hat making, 100 day thumbprints

100 guesstaments, 100 day math...

So many fun things to do, a a lot having to do with money.
Lucas is really into money. He gets the concepts, and is very good at computing how much money, etc.

Today was so fun for the class, I am glad I was able to take the day to be with them, and see Lucas in action.

In the "afternoon" they finished up their centers, sang some 100 day songs, ate their 100 day snacks, and cheered for their 100 efforts.

It made me miss the days I used to teach. Almost. I keep my day job for now. : P

Happy 100 day Lukie-Lao!
and - on that note - I am off to get those bangs cut! yikes!

  1. Our 100 day wasn't nearly as fun. Lucky Lucas!

  2. 16 kids? Seriously!? Kylie had 23 in kindergarten and has 30 now in first grade! The school district can't even afford to hire aids. It's ridiculous and depressing!
