Downtown City (part one)

Thanks to Arthur, my kids call Denver/Downtown - Downtown City. Its so cute to me that I refuse to correct them. Haha.

Today was DAM day! We met at the Denver Art Museum.
We took 166 photos today, and did so much I am breaking the posts into two parts.
No one wants to scroll through 50 pictures at once right?
:)

Before Grandma and Grandpa got to DAM we ran around and took some pictures near the sculptures.

Once we headed in, we stopped at the jumpzone. This whole area is about words. So cool!

Then we went to get the learning packs, provided by the Children's Hospital!
Each kid got a backpack with activities and lessons inside.
Then we went into the first room where they had an interactive bingo game for kids.
 Bridget no habla espanol!
Down another corridor they had a mail station. Stamps and postcards and a dress up area - INSIDE the DAM!
My Dad spotted this awesome PAINTING!
(below)
Look at this detail! My camera didn't do it justice.
After we left that floor they had this ceiling projected bubble thing on the floor. The kids would step on them and they would "POP" - Scarlett really didn't want to leave this area!
They were talking about perspectives in one of the kids backpacks. Here is one upclose.
 Here it is far away.
 So amazing.

In Lucas's pack they had this book with matching cards, and magnetic puzzles and then a station within the exhibit to complete the art project that coincided with that 'pack.'

After they did the art project, we found this exhibit. It was really weird at first.
We went through it a few times and were trying to "get it" until I took a picture without the flash...
The red disappears and you can see the foxes doing what they do in their habitats. It was neat to then go through and unfocus your eyes to see them "move."

The kids went into the African room next.
Listened to tribal music, and then made music with Grandma.
After the museum we went to Mad Greens.
Delicious! And - everything we (the adults) ate was UNDER 300 calories!

After Mad Greens we walked Downtown City.
Nathan and Mason in front of Denver Public Library.
Bridget and Grandma soaking in the art.

We let the kids run through Civic Center Park.

It was a brisk 41 degrees and the sun was shining. Perfect Colorado Winter Day.
We stopped at the neatest McDonald's I have ever seen!
Then we took the Mall Ride to Larimer Square.
We went to Rocket Fizz - an awesome Candy Store!
They had my dad's favorite HARD to get gum.
They had candy I had never heard about before there too!
There was even an entire wall dedicated to Root Beer! YUM.
Razzles too! After that, Juliet needed a nap so Nathan took her and Mason back to the car to sleep while we walked back to the DAM.
This was the only cow we spotted on our way back.
There was a band playing for tips, crazies on the bus, and best of all - it was hardly populated by the normal Denverites. So strange, but awesome at the same time.

This was only the first half of our adventure.
Stay tuned tomorrow for another picture overload. Haha.
